Rikard Gustafsson stormed to a stunning 5.84 seconds to claim the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel Motorcycle at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, the season-opening round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. In Super Twin Motorcycle Hans Olav Olstad claimed the number one qualifying position, while in Super Street Bike Mogens Lund stormed to a 6.98 seconds personal best to lead his category after two runs. Anita Mäkelä raced to the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena. In Top Methanol Timo Habermann is the leader after two runs, while Andreas Arthursson surprised in Pro Modified with a stunning 5.86 seconds and the number one qualifying position. In Pro Stock reigning champion Bengt Ljungdahl claimed the provisional number one qualifying position. Continue reading
EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship kicks off at Tierp Arena
Only a few days to go and the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship kicks off with its traditional opener, the Tierp Internationals at Tierp Arena. Stability is what teams and promotors want and so the most prestigious motorcycle championship of Northern Europe once again counts six different categories and will be decided in four races. Tommy Grimes Jr., Thomas Lysebraate Olsen, Jan Sturla Hegre, Mogens Lund, Emil Östlund and Iiro Reinola are the 2017 champions and until a few weeks ago the great news was that they would all be back at Tierp to start their title defence. Unfortunately, The Beast Dragbike Team had to withdraw their entry as Grimes has to deal with some health issues and can’t come to Europe. The Main Event 2018 on track and from the pits
The 2018 FIA European Drag Racing Championship kicked off with The Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway. What a great season opener it was with four Top Fuelers in the 3.9 seconds, one Pro Modified car in the 5.8 seconds and another four in the 5.9 seconds several times. In Top Methanol and Pro Stock there were great elapsed times as well, plus a surprise winner in Top Fuel and a first time finalist in Pro Stock. It seems like we have a great season ahead of us. The new all concrete Santa Pod Raceway track was of course subject of many discussions and everybody had their own opinion about it. Even the track management openly declared that there were still many improvements to make. But the spectators got three days of drag racing they could only have dreamed of. All qualifying and eliminations results were published on Dragracing Europe during the event, and all details can always be reviewed in the excellent live coverage on Eurodragster.com. Stig Neergaard, Michael Gullqvist, Timo Habermann and Stefan Ernryd winners at season-opening The Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway
Stig Neergaard from Denmark raced to victory by defeating Anita Mäkelä in the Top Fuel final at Santa Pod Raceway. Michael Gullqvist from Sweden had to defeat his countryman and multiple FIA European Pro Stock champion Jimmy Ålund to take the win in Pro Modified. The Top Methanol final was an all German Habermann affair as reigning champion Timo Habermann defeated his brother and number one qualifier Dennis Habermann. In Pro Stock last year’s runner up Stefan Ernryd took the win by defeating first time finalist Robin Norén at The Main Event, season-opening race of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.
