Sverre Dahl, Tommy Grimes, Timo Savolainen and Robert Nilsson are the number one qualifiers at Gardermoen Raceway

In three of the four categories of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship there were no changes in the names of the number one qualifiers after Saturday qualifying for the Drag Challenge at Gardermoen Raceway. Only in Pro Stock Motorcycle Timo Savolainen improved enough to be the new number one after five runs. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Sverre Dahl once again impressed with a stunning 5.93 seconds, while in Super Twin Motorcycle and Super Street Bike Tommy Grimes and Robert Nilsson stayed in the number one position and will lead their respective categories into tomorrow’s eliminations. Sverre Dahl was the star of the first day of qualifying for the Drag Challenge at Gardermoen Raceway, Norway. The Norwegian rider stormed to a stunning 5.98 seconds elapsed time to take the lead in Top Fuel Motorcycle. Tommy Grimes raced to the number one qualifying position in Super Twin Motorcycle at round three of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Thomas Lysebraaten Olsen claimed the number one qualifying position, while in Super Street Bike Robert Nilsson is the leader at Gardermoen Raceway after three qualifying runs. Gardermoen Raceway welcomes round three of the EDRS Pro Nordic MC

The EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship is at the half way point in the season and with Gardermoen Raceway, Norway, the teams and riders visit the third track and third country in the series. Samu Kemppainen, Mogens Lund and home favourites Thomas Lysebraaten Olsen and Jan Sturla Hegre are the leaders in their respective categories after two races, but just like at Tierp and Alastaro they will meet tough competition. Janne Koskinen’s Alastaro roller coaster ride

The FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro was Janne Koskinen’s debut in the Pro Stock Motorcycle category of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. The 2016 EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Gas Bike champion was well prepared and after some promising runs in his licencing process, the young Finn was ready for qualification and eliminations. But in racing not everything goes according to plan and Koskinen ended the FHRA Nitro Nationals in hospital. A sad moment for a true and dedicated racer and his team. Continue reading

Alastaro, always good for surprises

The FHRA Nitro Nationals is always special, and with an all Finnish final in Super Twin Motorcycle, a Finnish runner-up in Pro Stock Motorcycle and Finnish winners in Super Comp Bike and Super Gas Bike, the home crowd had plenty to cheer for. Moottoriurheilukeskus Alastaro Circuit, some highlights and notable events

The FHRA Nitro Nationals is always special, and this year’s edition was no exception. Duncan Micallef and Bengt Ljungdahl each won their second consecutive race. For Timo Habermann is was his first victory of the season, and for Åke Persson his maiden win in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. All four drivers deserved their wins as they were both quick and consistent in their respective categories during eliminations. Continue reading

Teemu Kettula was the upset winner in Super Twin Motorcycle at the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro, round two of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. In the all Finnish final Kettula defeated favourite Samu Kemppainen. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Thomas Lysebraate Olsen won his second race of the season by defeating number one qualifier Timo Savolainen. There was also a second consecutive win for Mogens Lund in Super Street Bike as the Dane was in a class of his own at Alastaro. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Jan Sturla Hegre was the winner in Finland. Duncan Micallef, Timo Habermann, Åke Persson and Bengt Ljungdahl winners at FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro

Duncan Micallef from Malta raced to victory in the Top Fuel final of the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round three of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Alastaro, Finland. In Top Methanol Timo Habermann was the quickest all day and claimed the trophy. Åke Persson was the winner in Pro Modified and that was the Swedes first ever victory in the FIA European Championship. In Pro Stock Bengt Ljungdahl defeated Stefan Ernryd in the final to take the win. Continue reading
