There were no changes in the names of the number one qualifiers after Saturday qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, the season-opening round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Tierp Arena. So in Top Fuel Motorcycle Rikard Gustafsson claimed the number one position for tomorrow’s eliminations, while in Super Twin Motorcycle, Pro Stock Motorcycle and Super Street Bike Tommy Grimes, Kalle Lyrén and Mogens Lund also stayed in the number one position and will lead their respective categories into tomorrow’s eliminations. Antti Horto raced to the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. In Top Methanol Sandro Bellio is the surprising leader after two runs. Jimmy Ålund made headlines by claiming the number one qualifying position is Pro Stock and Pro Modified as well!

Tommy Grimes raced to the number one qualifying position in Super Twin Motorcycle at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, the season-opening round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Rikard Gustafsson claimed the number one qualifying position. In Pro Stock Motorcycle and Super Street Bike Kalle Lyrén and Mogens Lund are the leaders at Tierp Arena after two Friday qualifying runs and still two qualifying runs on Saturday to go. EDRS Pro Nordic MC kicks off in high gear with Tierp and Alastaro
With two races separated by only one weekend off, the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship kicks off in high gear. The Tierp Internationals at Tierp Arena is once again the first meeting of the season, and after a one weekend break, the EDRS Pro Nordic MC teams will immediately meet again for round number two, the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro. The championship counts six different categories and will be decided in four races. The Tierp Internationals will be a first indication to see who are the favourites. Kalle Lyrén (Pro Stock Motorcycle), Samu Kemppainen (Super Twin Motorcycle), Thomas Pettersson (Top Fuel Motorcycle), Henri Kolehmainen (Super Street Bike) and Bianca Nilsson (Super Comp Bike) will all defend their 2016 titles, but will meet tough competition. Tierp Arena and Alastaro, next stops for the FIA European Drag Racing Championship
After the rain shortened start of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Santa Pod Raceway, the teams have a tight schedule ahead of them with the Tierp Internationals and the FHRA Nitro Nationals separated by only one weekend off in which to service their cars. The key players from Santa Pod will also be at Tierp and Alastaro, but will be joined by many new competitors who will start their season in northern Europe. With a great entry in all of the Pro classes, the FIA European Drag Racing Championship accelerates to the next level with the Tierp Internationals and the FHRA Nitro Nationals. Continue reading
The Main Event from a different point of view
The FIA European Drag Racing Championship kicked off with the traditional Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway. After two great days of qualifying with sunshine and summer temperatures, mother nature had other ideas for elimination day, and before the semi-finals arrived, rain brought an early end to The Main Event. But looking at the competition in all classes, the elapsed times so early in the season, and some new young drivers making their licencing passes, it seems like we have a great season ahead of us. Rain brought an early end to The Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, the opening round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. After an exciting first round of all FIA classes with several surprising results, and the quarter finals of Pro Modified, rain made it impossible to continue racing and finish the first race meeting of the year in the most prestigious drag racing championship of Europe.
