Two in a row for Thomas Olsen
After winning his first EDRS Pro Nordic MC Pro Stock Motorcycle championship in 2017, Thomas Lysebraate Olsen started the season as the favourite to win the 2018 title as well. The young Norwegian rider and his Brothers in Arms Racing team lived up to those expectations as Olsen claimed his second consecutive title in 2018. Olsen finished the season on a high note with his first 7.0-second run and that was well deserved after the hard work in a far from trouble-free year. Continue reading
Two circles are complete for Stig Olsson
In 1976 Stig Olsson’s drag racing career kicked off with a nitro car he bought from Krister Johansson. Now, 43 years later and after many seasons in non-nitro categories, Olsson is the proud owner of a nitro car again. And that’s not the only circle that is complete for Olsson, as Johansson will assist Daniel Jedborn, who is also the driver of the StigO Motorsport A-Fueler, with tuning advice. “We bought the BSG Racing A-Fueler from Stefan Gunnarsson and after the licencing procedure we will field the car in the FIA European Top Methanol Championship,” said Olsson. Johnny Oksa’s comeback part two
After winning the 2016 FIA European Top Methanol Funny Car Championship, Johnny Oksa took a year off to come back at last year’s Tierp Internationals at Tierp Arena. It was a dramatic return to the track as Oksa suffered a devastating crash in qualifying that brought an end to his season before it had even started. Shaken, not stirred, ‘the beast from Finland’ wanted to be back on track as soon as possible, and with a new car, Oksa will celebrate a second comeback in 2019! Continue reading
From the grandstand into the Pro Modified hot seat
Most people will see it as a reckless bet on a Saturday evening after too much beer, but a few see it as a serious challenge. Per Magnusson is one of those ‘happy few’. Being a drag race fan for many years, but not involved in any team at all, Magnusson bought the brutal ex Patrick Wikstrom blown Camaro to exchange the comfortable grandstand seat for the hot seat of a hot rod from hell. Continue reading
The FIA in Saint Petersburg, trophy for Anita Mäkelä and 2019 calendar confirmed
Last week the FIA World Motor Sport Council gathered in Saint Petersburg for the final 2018 FIA Annual General Assembly. Highlight of the meeting was of course the official FIA Prize Giving ceremony in the Grand Hall of the historic St Petersburg Philharmonia on Friday evening. During this annual gala the FIA champions received their FIA trophies. Drag racing was represented by FIA European Top Fuel champion Anita Mäkelä. Continue reading
Jami Oksanen keeps the EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Gas Bike title in Finland
It seems like the Super Gas Bike category of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship is Finnish territory. With Jami Oksanen, the 9.5-second index class had its third consecutive champion from Finland. The 19-year-old rider won two out of four races and finished the season with a runner-up spot at Tierp Arena, to claim the title with an 18-point gap over Ellen Ødegaard from Norway. Continue reading
Mathias Bohlin from surprise winner to convincing EDRS Pro Nordic MC SSB champion
When you finish the 2017 EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Street Bike championship in twelfth position, you are not the favourite to win the 2018 title. That suddenly changed when Mathias Bohlin won the opening round at Tierp Arena in June and took another victory in round number two at Alastaro. The rest is history as Bohlin claimed his first EDRS Pro Nordic MC SSB title in commanding style in only his second season in this competitive and spectacular category. Continue reading
Dennis Habermann defeats his brother to take over the #1
In a real ‘the winner takes it all’ semi-final Dennis Habermann claimed the 2018 FIA European Top Methanol Championship at the European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway. Being in the number two position behind leader and reigning champion Timo Habermann all season long, Dennis won that semi-final and took over the lead for the first time. The two brothers, rivals but also best friends, kept the numbers one and two in the team, but swapped the order compared to 2017. Continue reading
