Rain made an early end to the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro, Finland, the second round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. After the first round of Super Street Bike and the Pro Stock Motorcycles in the line-up, a thunderstorm interrupted the programme. The track crew almost got the Alastaro dragstrip in racing condition twice, when at 3.30 PM another heavy shower left the race director no other option than to cancel the event.  Continue reading

Rain made an early end to the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro, Finland. After an exiting first round in Top Fuel and Pro Modified, with an early exit of number one qualifier Michael Gullqvist, a thunderstorm interrupted the third round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Samu Kemppainen raced to the number one qualifying position in Super Twin Motorcycle at the final day of qualifying for the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round two of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Alastaro, Finland. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Kalle Lyrén stunned with his first ever 6-second run in Europe to claim the number one qualifying position. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Friday leader Jan Sturla Hegre stayed in the number one position, while in Super Street Bike Richard Stubbins was back to form and will enter eliminations as the number one qualifier.  Continue reading

Vesa Lipponen raced to the surprising number one qualifying position in Super Twin Motorcycle at the first day of qualifying for the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round two of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Alastaro, Finland. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Kalle Lyrén impressed with a stunning 7.01 seconds and will enter day two as the clear leader is his category. Stig Neergaard raced to the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round three of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Alastaro, Finland. In Pro Modified reigning champion Michael Gullqvist was quickest in both runs and leads the field with two more qualifying sessions to go. After England and Sweden, it’s time for Finland to welcome the FIA European Drag Racing Championship for round three of their title race. The FHRA Nitro Nationals at the Alastaro Circuit is always a special race and the only time the numerous Finnish fans can see the 8.500 bhp Top Fuelers live in action. After their win at Tierp Arena, Anita Mäkelä (Top Fuel) and Johnny Oksa (Top Methanol Funny Car) enter their home race as the provisional leaders in their respective championships. But competition will be tough to make it two in a row and increase that lead. EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship enters round two at Alastaro

Less than one week to go and the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship will have its second race of the season at Alastaro Circuit in Finland. After a great opening round at Tierp Arena, the Tierp Internationals winners will try to increase their lead in the championship, while the rest of the pack will try to catch up with the leaders to still have a fair chance in the championship after two races. Samu Kemppainen, Kalle Lyrén, Rikard Gustafsson and Henri Kolehmainen were the winners in Sweden, while the finals in Super Comp Bike and Super Gas Bike were rained out and so these categories will have their first race winners at Alastaro.
