Maja Udtian, Sandro Bellio and Jimmy Ålund number one qualifiers at European Finals

Maja Udtian (Top Fuel), Sandro Bellio (Top Methanol) and Jimmy Ålund (Pro Modified and Pro Stock) claimed the number one qualifying positions at the  European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway in England and will lead their respective categories into Sunday’s eliminations at the sixth and final round of the 2019 FIA European Drag Racing Championship. With her 3.806 seconds Udtian also reset her own European Top Fuel elapsed time record from two weeks ago at Tierp. Continue reading

Anita Mäkelä, Jan Ericsson, Sandro Bellio and Jimmy Ålund leaders after the first day of qualifying for the European Finals

Anita Mäkelä raced to the provisional number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the European Finals, the sixth and final round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Santa Pod Raceway in England. In Top Methanol Sandro Bellio is the leader after day one, while Jan Ericsson stormed to a great 5.823 seconds to take the lead in Pro Modified. Maja Udtian, Michael Gullqvist, Sandro Bellio and Robin Norén winners at Tierp Arena

Maja Udtian raced to victory in the Top Fuel final of the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, round five of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena in Sweden. It was the first win for the 21-year-old racer from Norway in her first full season in the championship. Udtian also reset the European elapsed time record in eliminations and defeated reigning champion Anita Mäkelä in an exciting all-female final. In Pro Modified Michael Gullqvist claimed the victory after elimination rounds full of major upsets. In Top Methanol championship leader Sandro Bellio extended his lead with a win. In Pro Stock Robin Norén upset with a win in the final over championship leader and 10-time European Pro Stock champion Jimmy Ålund. Continue reading

Jndia Erbacher, Jan Ericsson, Jonny Lagg and Jimmy Ålund number one qualifiers at Tierp Arena

After a mind-blowing second day of qualifying Jndia Erbacher (Top Fuel), Jan Ericsson (Pro Modified), Jonny Lagg (Top Methanol) and Jimmy Ålund (Pro Stock) claimed the number one qualifying positions at the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals at Tierp Arena and will lead their respective categories into Sunday’s eliminations at the fifth round of the 2019 FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Erbacher claimed her number one qualifying position in a stunning new European record of 3.817 seconds and also reset the European speed record to 513.31 km/h. Continue reading

Anita Mäkelä raced to the provisional number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, round five of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena in Sweden. In Top Methanol there is also a female driver the leader after day one, as Linn Engan Fløysvik claimed the provisional number one position. Anita Mäkelä and Timo Habermann winners, and double gold for Jimmy Ålund at Hockenheim NitrOlympX

Anita Mäkelä raced to victory in the Top Fuel final of the NitrOlympX, round four of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the Rico Anthes Quartermile of the Hockenheimring. The reigning FIA European champion defeated Maja Udtian in an all-female final, the second of this season. In Top Methanol Timo Habermann claimed the win after defeating Jürgen Nagel in an all-German final. Most successful driver at Hockenheim was Jimmy Ålund. The reigning FIA European Pro Modified champion was the winner in Pro Modified and Pro Stock as well. In Pro Modified Ålund defeated Jan Ericsson, and in Pro Stock the Swede was too quick for last year’s NitrOlympX winner Robin Norén. Continue reading

Anita Mäkelä raced to the provisional number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the NitrOlympX, round four of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the Rico Anthes Quartermile of the Hockenheimring. In Top Methanol Jonny Lagg is the leader after day one, while Jimmy Ålund  was quickest in both Pro Modified and Pro Stock as well. Continue reading

FHRA Nitro Nationals full of surprises

The FHRA Nitro Nationals, round three of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, were full of drama and in the end had at least three surprise winners. In Top Fuel Timo Lehtimäki raced to victory, and although the Finn was last year’s winner as well, it was once again an upset win as he was the number eight qualifier. In Pro Modified Peter Kunc was the surprise winner after defeating Andreas Arthursson in the final, while Simon Gustafsson stunned with a win in the final over reigning champion Bengt Ljungdahl in Pro Stock. For Kunc and Gustafsson is was their first win in an FIA European Championship race. Top Methanol had less of a surprise winner in Sandro Bellio, although the Santa Pod winner didn’t see himself as a favourite at all after a far from trouble free qualifying. Continue reading

Timo Lehtimäki, Sandro Bellio, Peter Kunc and Simon Gustafsson winners at FHRA Nitro Nationals in Kauhava

Timo Lehtimäki gave the Finnish home crowd something to cheer about by winning the Top Fuel final of the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round three of the 2019 FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the new Kauhava drag racing facility in Finland. Lehtimäki, also winner of last year’s FHRA Nitro Nationals, defeated Maja Udtian from Norway in the final. In Top Methanol Sandro Bellio had a bye run in the final to take his second win of the season. In Pro Modified Peter Kunc was the surprise winner over Andreas Arthursson in the final, while in Pro Stock there was maybe an even bigger surprise when Simon Gustafsson defeated reigning champion Bengt Ljungdahl in the final.
