In Top Methanol Sandro Bellio is the leader after day one, while Jan Ericsson stormed to a great 5.823 seconds to take the lead in Pro Modified. Cool temperatures, good track conditions, but also a long rain delay at Santa Pod Raceway during the first day of qualifying for the European Finals, the grand finale of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.

In Top Fuel championship leader Anita Mäkelä claimed the number one qualifying position in her first run of the day. The reigning champion stormed to a great 3.90 seconds while all other competitors suffered all kinds of mechanical or traction problems. One of the major victims was Maja Udtian. The number two in the championship didn’t make a run at all and is not qualified yet. Stig Neergaard is the number two qualifier after two runs, but his 6.49 seconds will definitely not be enough to remain in that position on Saturday.

Tethys is the provisional number three, with Jndia Erbacher fourth and Susanne Callin fifth. Just like Udtian, Liam Jones and Patrik Pers didn’t record an elapsed time either and will have to qualify tomorrow.

In Pro Modified Jan Ericsson, the number two in the championship, stormed to a great 5.823 seconds at 245 mph to take over the number one qualifying position from the leader after the first run, Jimmy Ålund.

The still reigning Pro Modified champion recorded a great 5.868 seconds in his first run.

Mats Eriksson is the number three qualifier after day one with 5.92 seconds, with Roger Johansson fourth with 5.96 seconds. Kim Kristiansen is fifth (5.96 seconds) while Dmitry Samorukov was the sixth driver to run a 5-second run with a 5.99- second personal best. Championship leader Michael Gullqvist is the first driver with a 6-second run (6.08 seconds) and the Swede is in seventh position.

In Top Methanol championship leader Sandro Bellio claimed the number one qualifying position with a great 5.56 seconds. Jonny Lagg, the number two in the title race, claimed the provisional number two position, with Silvio Strauch third.

In Pro Stock 2019 champion Jimmy Ålund is the provisional leader after two runs with a great 6.56 seconds.

Bengt Ljungdahl is the number two qualifier with 6.61 seconds, with Michael Malmgren, the number two in the championship, in third position with 6.623 seconds. Robin Norén is the number four with 6.626 seconds.

Qualifying for the European Finals at Santa Pod, the sixth and final round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, continues Saturday.
