Swedes at The Strip

Harry Granlund, Annette Heleander and Göran Ekendahl at The Strip in Las Vegas, working with the Safety Safari, the NHRA counterpart to the Safety Group and our track staff throughout Europe.

Last October, a group of Swedes attended a couple of NHRA races. The Las Vegas Toyota Nationals was first out on the tour and they spent four full days together with the NHRA Safety Safari. It is the American equivalent of our Safety Group as well as the staff handling track preparation around Europe. Next up on the tour was the Auto Club NHRA Finals at the Auto Club Raceway in Pomona.

The FIA in Saint Petersburg, trophy for Anita Mäkelä and 2019 calendar confirmed

Last week the FIA World Motor Sport Council gathered in Saint Petersburg for the final 2018 FIA Annual General Assembly. Highlight of the meeting was of course the official FIA Prize Giving ceremony in the Grand Hall of the historic St Petersburg Philharmonia on Friday evening. During this annual gala the FIA champions received their FIA trophies. Drag racing was represented by FIA European Top Fuel champion Anita Mäkelä. Continue reading

Jami Oksanen keeps the EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Gas Bike title in Finland

It seems like the Super Gas Bike category of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship is Finnish territory. With Jami Oksanen, the 9.5-second index class had its third consecutive champion from Finland. The 19-year-old rider won two out of four races and finished the season with a runner-up spot at Tierp Arena, to claim the title with an 18-point gap over Ellen Ødegaard from Norway. The Olssons living the dream



The 2018 drag racing season is over in Europe as well as in the US. Swedish drag racer Stig Olsson can sum up his 2018 American dream tour with a good ending, setting a Competition Eliminator world best elapsed time at The Strip in Las Vegas this last October with a 6.56 seconds at 206 mph.

Mathias Bohlin from surprise winner to convincing EDRS Pro Nordic MC SSB champion

When you finish the 2017 EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Street Bike championship in twelfth position, you are not the favourite to win the 2018 title. That suddenly changed when Mathias Bohlin won the opening round at Tierp Arena in June and took another victory in round number two at Alastaro. The rest is history as Bohlin claimed his first EDRS Pro Nordic MC SSB title in commanding style in only his second season in this competitive and spectacular category. Continue reading

Consistency brings Peter Östlund the 2018 EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Comp Bike title

With no fewer than 27 riders scoring points in the championship, Super Comp Bike was one of the most competitive categories of the 2018 EDRS Pro Nordic MC. But still, Peter Östlund claimed the title with an impressive 191 points advantage over the number two in the championship after four races. Consistency and going rounds in every race were the reasons behind his extremely succesful 2018 season. Continue reading
