Robin Norén, a hard fought first FIA European Pro Stock title

To claim a title in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship is tough, but to do it in the Pro Stock class where you have to beat a 13-time European champion, is even tougher. But Robin Norén did it this season with the right combination of great ETs and even better reaction times. In a ‘winner takes it all’ final Norén claimed his first FIA European Pro Stock title by defeating Jimmy Ålund with 0.0086 seconds! Norén looks back on his so successful 2025 championship winning campaign.

Henry Riehl is living his dream at the moment. The German is just 22 years old and already racing in the FIA European Pro Stock Championship against multiple champions and experienced drivers from Sweden. That Riehl is racing a Mercedes CLK, the only European car in Pro Stock, makes his story even more special. This whole adventure would not be possible without team owner and mentor Harald Sturhan.

Michael Malmgren claimed the 2023 FIA European Pro Stock Championship in a nerve-wracking semifinal at the final round of the championship at Santa Pod Raceway. At the halfway point of the season, the title seemed to be far away for the Pro Stock veteran. But together with his team, Malmgren didn’t give up, his luck turned and at the European Finals it all fell into place with a new FIA European Championship as a result.

After two seasons taking part in only a few Pro Stock races a year, Jimmy Ålund was back for a full season in 2019 in the category he loves the most. And his opponents knew it, as Ålund immediately claimed the title, his 11th FIA European Pro Stock Championship, and a Pro Modified title included, his 12th in total! The Summit Racing Camaro driver won three races and finished as the runner-up two times to claim the title with a 155-point advantage over Robin Norén. As the icing on the cake of a great 2019 season, Ålund, European Pro Stock speed record holder since 2015, also claimed the European Pro Stock ET record back. Continue reading

A comeback from far behind for Bengt Ljungdahl
In the next couple of weeks we will pay attention to the 2018 FIA European Drag Racing and EDRS Pro Nordic MC champions. We kick off with Bengt Ljungdahl, the only reigning FIA European champion who was able to extend his title with another number one spot. But after two races in the season, the Swede was in third spot, 61 points behind the leader and another title seemed to be far away. Continue reading
Robin Norén step-by-step to the Pro Stock top
Drag Racers are an eclectic and generally likeable bunch of people and all have a story of how they came to be at the track racing, crewing, marshalling or spectating. Among these stories there is occasionally one that stands out a little higher than the rest. Robin Norén’s is one such story. When I first met Robin and his team, they were attending the Main Event at Santa Pod in 2017. Travelling in a converted removals truck which I think is older than Robin, the team made an immediate impression on me. As we got to know them better, we realised that this was a team driven by a love of racing, a love of engineering and a competitive spirit that could not be diminished. Continue reading
Number one for Bengt Ljungdahl
The 2017 season was one to remember for Bengt Ljungdahl as the Swedish driver won his first FIA European Pro Stock Championship. With the blue VP Racing Fuels backed Chevrolet Camaro, he succeeded the other blue Camaro of 10-time European champion Jimmy Ålund. With the number one on the car, Ljungdahl will go for another title in 2018, but as the competition in Pro Stock is extremely close, he knows it will be tough. Continue reading
