Tommy Grimes, Rikard Gustafsson, Kalle Lyrén and Mogens Lund leaders after Friday qualifying at Tierp Internationals
Tommy Grimes raced to the number one qualifying position in Super Twin Motorcycle at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, the season-opening round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Rikard Gustafsson claimed the number one qualifying position. In Pro Stock Motorcycle and Super Street Bike Kalle Lyrén and Mogens Lund are the leaders at Tierp Arena after two Friday qualifying runs and still two qualifying runs on Saturday to go.
Sunny and dry weather conditions at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, round one of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at the state-of-the-art drag racing facility of Tierp Arena. The great weather and track conditions made it possible to record great elapsed times in all categories.
In Super Twin Motorcycle Tommy Grimes stormed to a stunning 6.41 seconds in his second run of the day to claim the number one qualifying position. Petri Mattson was the surprising number two qualifier with an elapsed time of 6.73 seconds, closely followed by Roman Sixta with 6.74 seconds. Samu Kemppainen, the reigning EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Twin Motorcycle champion had some problems in both of his runs and is in seventh position after day one.
In Pro Stock Motorcycle Kalle Lyrén claimed the number one qualifying position in his first run of the day with 7.06 seconds. Robert Karlsson improved to 7.04 seconds in his second run and claimed the provisional number one position.
In the next run Lyrén retook the lead with 7.03 seconds but ran into problems at the finish line and crashed. The Veidec Lyrén Motorsport rider was checked in the medical centre and was OK. Behind Karlsson, Timo Savolainen is the number three qualifier.
Rikard Gustafsson stormed to a stunning 6.00 seconds to claim the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel Motorcycle.
Jan Sturla Hegre is the number two qualifier (6.35 seconds) and reigning EDRS Pro Nordic champion Thomas Pettersson is in third position.
In Super Street Bike Mogens Lund from Denmark is the leader with a great 7.19 seconds from his first run of the day. Behind the number one qualifier the numbers two up to six are all in the 7.3-second zone.
Robert Nilsson is in second place with 7.30 seconds, Vesa Ruhaen is third (7.32 seconds) and reigning EDRS Pro Nordic champion Henri Kolehmainen from Finland is fourth.
In Super Comp Bike Nichlas Sverin is the leader with Emil Östlund in second position. In Super Gas Bike Iiro Reinola is the leader with Magnus Pollack in second position.
Qualifying for the Tierp Inernationals continues Saturday with another two runs.
