The Tierp Internationals had everything that makes drag racing so interesting. After the rain shortened opening round at Santa Pod, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship finished without any problems and with large numbers of entrants in all classes, exciting races, great elapsed times, a new European record and a rookie winning his first FIA race all made the Tierp Internationals a great event. Anders Hörnström

Anders Hörnström raced to victory in Super Twin Motorcycle at the season-opening Tierp Internationals at Tierp Arena. In the final the Swede defeated Greger Johansson. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Thomas Lysebraate Olsen surprised in the final by defeating number two qualifier Robert Karlsson. There was an even bigger surprise in Top Fuel Motorcycle where Peter Andersson defeated Sverre Dahl in the final. Mogens Lund from Denmark was both quick and consistent and was the winner in Super Street Bike at the first round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. Continue reading →

Duncan Micallef

Duncan Micallef from Malta raced to victory in the Top Fuel final of the Tierp Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena, Sweden. In Top Methanol Sandro Bellio surprised with a win in his first ever FIA race by defeating Dennis Habermann in the final. Reigning champion Michael Gullqvist was the winner in Pro Modified and reset the European record to 5.836 seconds, while Bengt Ljungdahl defeated Stefan Ernryd in the Pro Stock final to take the win.  There were no changes in the names of the number one qualifiers after Saturday qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, the season-opening round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Tierp Arena. So in Top Fuel Motorcycle Rikard Gustafsson claimed the number one position for tomorrow’s eliminations, while in Super Twin Motorcycle, Pro Stock Motorcycle and Super Street Bike Tommy Grimes, Kalle Lyrén and Mogens Lund also stayed in the number one position and will lead their respective categories into tomorrow’s eliminations. Antti Horto raced to the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. In Top Methanol Sandro Bellio is the surprising leader after two runs. Jimmy Ålund made headlines by claiming the number one qualifying position is Pro Stock and Pro Modified as well!
