Gold for Ida Zetterström, Johnny Oksa, Jan Ericsson and Michael Malmgren at NitrOlympX

Ida Zetterström raced to victory in the Top Fuel final of the NitrOlympX, round four of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the Rico Anthes Quartermile of the HockenheimRIng. In Pro Modified Jan Ericsson claimed the victory. Zetterström and Ericsson extended their lead in the championship and although it’s not official yet, it’s almost certain that they will be crowned as the 2023 FIA European champions in their respective categories. In Top Methanol Johnny Oksa defeated Sandro Bellio in the final, while in Pro Stock Michael Malmgren claimed the win.

Somethings change, some stay the same at the second and final day of FIM-E qualifying at the NitrOlympX. Two full sessions under cooler conditions than yesterday and some improvements in a number of the classes, but some weren’t without their problems.

There were numerous improvements on the second day of qualifying for the NitrOlympX at the Rico Anthes Quartermile of the HockenheimRing, round four of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Friday leaders Jndia Erbacher (Top Fuel), Sandro Bellio (Top Methanol) and Robin Norén impressed again, improved their ETs and remained in the number one qualifying position. Only the Pro Modified category had a new leader after Saturday qualifying as Andres Arnover recorded a great 5,86 seconds to take over the number one position from reigning champion Jan Ericsson.

Jndia Erbacher raced to the provisional number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the NitrOlympX, the fourth round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the Rico Anthes Quartermile of the HockenheimRing, Germany. In Top Methanol Sandro Bellio is the leader after two runs, while Jan Ericsson claimed the provisional number one spot in Pro Modified and Robin Norén is the provisional number one qualifier in Pro Stock.

Danish Super Street Bike stalwart Mogens Lund is heads to Germany for this weekend’s NitrOlympX with renewed enthusiasm. “After a frustrating looong weekend in Tierp we am looking forward to a weekend in Hockenheim where Ryan Davies will come over to crew for me. In the first round in Sweden a shim popped up and made me cruse across the line in first round, manage to get it back in place without any damage, so dodged a bullet there.

This weekend sees the Rico Anthes Quartermile at the Hockenheimring burst into life from its yearlong slumber as the German venue hosted the FIM-E tour as part of the NitrOlympX. Often a favourite of the European season with bumper crowds and diverse entries from across the continent, this year’s edition will have a major influence on the championship destinations after rainouts at the previous two events in Sweden.
