Sandro Bellio was the 2019 FIA European Top Methanol champion, and as a result of the 2-year coronavirus break, he is still the reigning champion. But that’s not enough for the young Belgian driver as he wants to add another championship with a title in 2022.

Tierp Arena has not been able to run any of its European FIA-championships events the past two years due to the pandemic. Meanwhile the venue has been out for sale and several sales processes have been ongoing and still is.

With the start of the 2022 FIA European Drag Racing Championship not far off, several teams from this championship took the opportunity to test their updated cars at the Festival of Power, the first round of the British drag racing championship at Santa Pod Raceway. And it was a major success as all three cars of the Rune Fjeld Motorsport stable made several promising runs, with the 3.837 seconds of Ida Zetterström as the highlight. Michel Tooren raised his confidence for the coming season as what was planned to be a test weekend ended with a victory in the first round of the Motorsport UK Pro Modified Championship.

We got a mail from a very nice young fellow, Felix Hernando Mir from Spain, who is eager to get into drag racing. As the sport is not that big in Spain, he have now reached out to us to get some help.

In view of the FIA ​​European Championship race for cars, the FHRA board has identified the situation due to the multiplier effects of the Covid pandemic as not having a realistic chance of organizing the race.

The season is about to start. And one of the early events of the season is the SFI European Inspection Service. The event is a bit scaled down this year due to the last years of restrictions. The information from SFI is as follow.

11th-14th August , Sweden (Tierp Arena)

26-28 August, Germany (HockenheimRing)

8th-11th September, Great Britain ( Santa Pod Raceway)
