Qualifying day two at the Hockenheimring rained out
There was no racing in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship classes on day two of qualifying for the NitrOlympX at the Hockenheimring, Germany. Stig Neergaard raced to the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the NitrOlympX, round four of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the Hockenheimring, Germany. In Top Methanol Funny Car Ari Pietilä surprised with a new personal best and is the number one qualifier. In Pro Modified reigning champion Michael Gullqvist was quickest and leads the field with two more qualifying sessions to go. In Pro Stock Jimmy Alund is the number one qualifier, while in Top Methanol Dragster local hero Timo Habermann leads the field after day one. Continue reading
Scandinavian Internationals, the EDRS Pro Nordic MC finals at Tierp Arena
The Scandinavian Internationals is the fourth and final round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. Two and a half months after the championship kicked off at Tierp Arena, the EDRS Pro Nordic MC is back at the state-of-the-art drag race facility north of Stockholm. Samu Kemppainen (Super Twin Motorcycle), Kalle Lyrén (Pro Stock Motorcycle), Henri Kolehmainen (Super Street Bike) and Rikard Gustafsson (Top Fuel Motorcycle) enter the final round as the leader in their respective categories. Bianca Nilsson is the favourite to become the first EDRS Pro Nordic Super Comp Bike champion and you don’t have to be a fortune-teller to see that Janne Koskinen will be crowned as the champion in Super Gas Bike at the Scandinavian Internationals. FIA European Drag Racing Championship resumes at Hockenheim and Tierp Arena
The 2016 FIA European Drag Racing Championship is at the halfway point of the season and after the summer break part two kicks off with the traditional NitrOlympX at Hockenheim. From Germany the teams have to travel directly to Sweden, as the following weekend the Scandinavian Internationals at Tierp Arena is on the calendar. For the drivers and teams not only an extremely tight schedule, but in one week the standings in the FIA European Championship can change dramatically. Rain disturbs Drag Challenge Grand Opening at great new Gardermoen Raceway
Mother Nature is not always as cooperative as you would like when you have something to celebrate. Rain played far too important a role in the opening of the new Gardermoen Raceway. Not only was the official part of the ceremony disturbed by rain, but also round three of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship was cut short to one qualifying round on Friday and one on Saturday before rain also brought an early end to eliminations after only one round was completed. Drag Challenge Grand Opening at Gardermoen plagued by rain
‘It’s raining again’ from Supertramp would have been more suitable for the Drag Challenge Grand Opening then AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ that came from the Gardermoen Raceway sound system almost every four hours. You don’t always get what you deserve and that was for sure with the Norsk Drag Racing Gardermoen and their opening of the new Gardermoen Raceway. Continue reading
Rain brings end to Drag Challenge at Gardermoen after round one of eliminations
Rain brought an early end to the eliminations of the Drag Challenge Grand Opening, round three of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at the new Gardermoen Raceway. After the first round of eliminations, the rain that already badly affected the Friday and Saturday qualifying was back and after some short delays earlier on the Sunday, the race director had to cancel the Drag Challenge at 4 PM.
