Andreas Arthursson, Jimmy Ålund and Jonny Lagg leaders after the first day of qualifying at Tierp Arena

Andreas Arthursson raced to the provisional number one qualifying position in Pro Modified at the first day of qualifying for the Summit Racing Scandinavian Nationals at Tierp Arena. In Pro Stock Jimmy Ålund claimed the provisional number one qualifying position while in Top Methanol Jonny Lagg is the leader after day one. Although not a race for the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, 25 teams from three FIA classes take the opportunity this weekend to test and race in championship conditions.

Rikard Gustafsson, Marcus Christiansen, Mathias Bohlin and Bertrand Maurice number one qualifiers at Tierp Arena

Rikard Gustafsson (Top Fuel Motorcycle), Marcus Christiansen (Super Twin Motorcycle), Bertrand Maurice (Pro Stock Motorcycle) and Mathias Bohlin (Super Street Bike) claimed the number one qualifying positions at the Summit Racing Scandinavian Nationals at Tierp Arena and will lead their respective categories into Sunday’s eliminations at the final round of the 2021 EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship.

Jan Sturla Hegre, Juha Hintukainen, Anders Blanck and Bertrand Maurice Friday leaders at Tierp Arena

Jan Sturla Hegre claimed the provisional number one qualifying position in Top Fuel Motorcycle at the first day of qualifying for the Summit Racing Scandinavian Nationals, the final round of the 2021 EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Tierp Arena in Sweden. In Super Street Bike Anders Blanck impressed with a great 7.26 seconds to secure the provisional number one qualifying spot, while in Pro Stock Motorcycle Bertrand Maurice and in Super Twin Motorcycle Juha Hintukainen claimed the number one position after the first day of qualifying with still two qualifying runs on Saturday to go.

Summit Racing Scandinavian Nationals ready to go

This weekend the FIA European Drag Racing Championship should have seen the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, round four of the title race at Tierp Arena, Sweden. Due to the corona pandemic and travel restriction the first three rounds of Europe’s most prestigious drag racing championship had to be cancelled, with the result that in the end the 2021 FIA European Drag Racing Championship had to be called off. But still no fewer than 25 cars from three different FIA classes are at Tierp Arena this weekend to compete in the now called Summit Racing Scandinavian Nationals.

Swedish adventure for Vegter Pro Mod Racing

They have been well prepared and ready to go for quite some time, but now it’s finally time for action. In two weeks Vegter Pro Mod Racing will travel to Sweden to make their first runs of the season at the Summit Racing Scandinavian Nationals at Tierp Arena. The new coloured and updated Vegter Pro Mod Racing ’67 Chevrolet Camaro is ready to go for some quick elapsed times at the Swedish track. “Finally, after 23 months it’s time for some action again. We’ve really missed this,” said a happy David Vegter.

Ida Zetterström to go Top Fuel

It was a major surprise for many, the breaking news that Ida Zetterström made the switch to Top Fuel. Only a few insiders knew her dream, passion and great desire to run in one of these quickest and fastest accelerating vehicles on earth. The current EDRS Pro Nordic MC Super Street Bike champion will join Rune Fjeld Motorsport and will start licensing as soon as possible, with the ultimate goal of running a full FIA European Top Fuel Championship in 2022.

FIA European Drag Racing Championship 2021 called off

After many months of delay and uncertainty on a final decision regarding the 2021 FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the Tierp Arena (Sweden) in August and Santa Pod (UK) in September we have along with the FIA reached a decision that even a 2-round FIA Shootout Cup will not be possible to hold due to the covid-19 restrictions with travel and quarantine regulations.

Delayed start of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship

The continued coronavirus related restrictions create challenges for the first events on the FIA European Championship Drag Racing tour. This has led to that the organizers have been forced to confirm the cancellation of the first three events, Santa Pod Raceway, England in May and the Swedish event at Tierp Arena in June, and Kauhava in Finland in July. The vaccinations have had a good progress in England, but restrictions will likely apply into, at least, June.
