The Pro Stock Championship heats up at Alastaro
After record breaking performances at the first two rounds of the season, even the most cautious would have been tempted to put money on Jimmy Ålund in Finland, but if you had taken that bet, you would have lost. Not only did the nine time European champion qualify in an uncharacteristically low fourth place, he was eliminated in round one. When Pro Stock turns cruel, it turns really cruel. The rest of the top four in the championship suffered mixed fortunes, Michael Malmgren was also eliminated in round one, whilst Thomas Lindström went out in the semis. Magnus Petersson made it to another final, but the glory of the weekend went to Richard “Nixxon” Sundblom who won at his home track in his first event of the year. Continue reading
Johan Lindberg storms to victory at Alastaro
Reigning champion Johan Lindberg was the man to beat in Top Methanol Funny Car at the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro. Together with a number one qualifying position and both low ET and top speed of the weekend, the Lindberg Bros team gave their new sponsor Rovalin AB their first victory. In the championship Lindberg is number two, but closing in on leader Leif Andreasson. Continue reading
Reigning champion Micke Kågered in command again
You don’t have to be the fastest to win races. It’s all about being fast enough in the right moment to defeat your opponent. And that’s exactly what Micke Kågered did at the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro. The reigning FIA European Top Fuel champion took a hole shot win against Janne Ahonen, saw Stig Neergaard run into problems with an engine explosion in the semi-finals, to have a bye-run in the final. With his victory the Bahco Express driver is the new leader in the championship after the Finnish round of the 2015 FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Continue reading

Last year we saw 9 entries in Pro Mod at Alastaro and Mattias Wulcan as winner. This time things will be different for sure. Runner-up from last year Roger Johansson is entered and he is currently 5th in the championship points rankings. During the recent Tierp Internationals there was a nasty incident where the car of Mikael Larsson got over in the wrong lane and hit Leif Andreassons car. Although both drivers were ok, the damage to the cars was extensive. At this time and as far as we know Andreasson is going get the car race ready in time for Alastaro and Larsson, who is also on the entry list is not. Continue reading
