Reigning champion Micke Kågered in command again
You don’t have to be the fastest to win races. It’s all about being fast enough in the right moment to defeat your opponent. And that’s exactly what Micke Kågered did at the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro. The reigning FIA European Top Fuel champion took a hole shot win against Janne Ahonen, saw Stig Neergaard run into problems with an engine explosion in the semi-finals, to have a bye-run in the final. With his victory the Bahco Express driver is the new leader in the championship after the Finnish round of the 2015 FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Continue reading

Last year we saw 9 entries in Pro Mod at Alastaro and Mattias Wulcan as winner. This time things will be different for sure. To start with Wulcan had an incident and smashed the car into the barrier at Tierp in June. He also hurt his ribs and will not be competing at Alastaro. Runner-up from last year Roger Johansson is entered and he is currently 5th in the championship points rankings. In championship lead a driver who has been successful at Alastaro before, Mats Eriksson with the Green Goblin Crown Victoria and Eriksson will be racing at Alastaro. Continue reading

During the recent Tierp Internationals there was a nasty incident where the car of Mikael Larsson got over in the wrong lane and hit Leif Andreassons car. Alastaro Circuit, the place to be for Finnish drag race fans
Alastaro Circuit is the second stop for the riders and teams of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship and the third round included in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. With a racetrack, rally cross track and dragstrip, Alastaro is a multipurpose motorsport facility and very important for Finnish motorsport. But in the first weekend of July, with the FHRA Nitro Nationals, it’s all about drag racing at Alastaro. Teams and fans are looking forward to visit this special place. And as we understand, when you see ‘2 Moottoriurheilukeskus’, one of the most photographed road signs, you are almost there. Continue reading
Pro Modified Review Tierp Internationals
This weekend taught us the sport is very safe, but however anything can happen. And we can also tell that the racers who were involved in the weekend incidents are, under the circumstances, well.
The event started out with very good weather and the forecast promised that this should continue except for some small showers. That wasn’t really the truth. Saturday ended in rain and heavy wind. And Sunday wasn’t much better. Only FIA classes, EDRS Pro motorcycles and Top Doorslammer had one elimination round before the rain ended the event. The track was very good from start, which made it a bit hard with the settings in first round, except for a certain Old 51 –car. Continue reading
Even flames can’t hold back Anita Mäkelä from running 3.9 seconds
New personal bests in qualifying and an exciting first round of eliminations, that was what everybody expected to see, and got to see, at the state-of-the-art and ultra-fast Tierp Arena dragstrip. But the Saturday rain came back on elimination day, and with the Top Fuelers almost lined-up for the semi-finals, the race director had no other choice then to make an early end to the Tierp Internationals, the second round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. As the number one qualifier, first round winner, and again, only driver in the 3 seconds, Anita Mäkelä will go to Alastaro as the leader in the championship. Continue reading
