Alastaro Circuit, the place to be for Finnish drag race fans
Alastaro Circuit is the second stop for the riders and teams of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship and the third round included in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. With a racetrack, rally cross track and dragstrip, Alastaro is a multipurpose motorsport facility and very important for Finnish motorsport. But in the first weekend of July, with the FHRA Nitro Nationals, it’s all about drag racing at Alastaro. Teams and fans are looking forward to visit this special place. And as we understand, when you see ‘2 Moottoriurheilukeskus’, one of the most photographed road signs, you are almost there. Continue reading
Pro Modified Review Tierp Internationals
This weekend taught us the sport is very safe, but however anything can happen. And we can also tell that the racers who were involved in the weekend incidents are, under the circumstances, well.
The event started out with very good weather and the forecast promised that this should continue except for some small showers. That wasn’t really the truth. Saturday ended in rain and heavy wind. And Sunday wasn’t much better. Only FIA classes, EDRS Pro motorcycles and Top Doorslammer had one elimination round before the rain ended the event. The track was very good from start, which made it a bit hard with the settings in first round, except for a certain Old 51 –car. Continue reading
Even flames can’t hold back Anita Mäkelä from running 3.9 seconds
New personal bests in qualifying and an exciting first round of eliminations, that was what everybody expected to see, and got to see, at the state-of-the-art and ultra-fast Tierp Arena dragstrip. But the Saturday rain came back on elimination day, and with the Top Fuelers almost lined-up for the semi-finals, the race director had no other choice then to make an early end to the Tierp Internationals, the second round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. As the number one qualifier, first round winner, and again, only driver in the 3 seconds, Anita Mäkelä will go to Alastaro as the leader in the championship. Continue reading

Tierp Internationals – Event full of action
The Tierp Internationals came to an early halt due to a combination of weather conditions and delays late on Sunday afternoon. Before that there had been numerous of new personal bests set and also a new European record. The traction conditions was extremely good and it was a big but positive challenge for the teams to adjust the cars to make the outmost use of it. The event also included some spectacular incidents..
In Pro Stock Car Jimmy Ålund set a new European record during the qualifications. 6.49 sec. and was still in competition when the event was called off. The other semi finalists was Thomas Lindström, Michael Malmgren and Magnus Petersson. Continue reading

General Event Preview
FIA European Drag Racing Championship round #2 is hosted by Tierp Arena in Sweden. The venue, which is located an hour north of the capital Stockholm was built in 2011. It is the only purpose built concrete drag racing track in Europe. And like the tag line states, Tierp Arena is a world class facility for the sport of drag racing. The privately owned track got new owners in 2014, but the two founders who made it happen are still highly active operating teams in the FIA Championship; Lars-Erik Lindberg and Leif Andreasson (both are in the methanol funny car class).

Class Review FIA Main Event – Top Methanol Dragster
Dave Wilson and Dennis Habermann
The Habermanns outstanding, but victory stayed in the UK
Venue: Santa Pod Raceway, UK
Dates: May 22nd-25th 2015
The return to competition of Germany’s Werner Habermann Racing team was among the most exciting news during the pre-season. The family-operated team consists of two almost identical blown Top Methanol Dragsters piloted by brothers Dennis and Timo. At the FIA Main Event the Habermanns gave their competitors a tough time and secured one of the final-round spots after they had raced each other in the semi-final in the quickest and fastest side-by-side TMD match of the entire event. But final victory in championship round #1 stayed in the UK.
