Ten is more than just a number for Jimmy Ålund
Last year, Jimmy Ålund reached a milestone by winning his tenth FIA European Pro Stock Championship, making the Swede by far the most successful European drag racer in history. But now it’s time to recharge the battery and explore unknown territory behind the wheel of Magnus Petterson’s Old 51 Pro Mod. “I’m really looking forward to a season in Pro Modified, but it’s not the start of a goodbye to Pro Stock as we will also do a limited schedule with our Pro Stock Camaro and take the opportunity to test some ideas we have,” said Ålund about the coming season. A blue Camaro will wear the number 1, but which blue Camaro?
The 2016 Pro Stock season has certainly been a close fought race as we come into the finals at Santa Pod. Rain has affected a couple of the races this year resulting in cancellation of eliminations in Alastaro and reduced qualifying in Hockenheim and the first Tierp round. Points have been harder to come by for the main players. This has been the case across the board but we have still seen three winners before the finals. Continue reading
Review Pro Stock, Scandinavian Internationals. The shape of things to come?
Bengt Ljungdahl is having a season of firsts. Completely different experiences than he had in the 2015 season when he attended races at Tierp only and failed to qualify for either race day, Bengt has taken the 2016 season in his grasp and attended all races, qualifying at everything to date. Could the likeable Swede maintain his record of high qualification positions and go some more rounds at Tierp? Continue reading
Pro-Stock comes back to Germany
After a break of two years the Pro Stock cars made a return to the Rico Anthes Quartermile in Hockenheim for the NitrOlympX. As keen followers will recall, the track in 2014 could not hold the power of a Pro Stock car and all teams voted to quit the event after Q1. No Pro Stock team attended the NitrOlympX in 2015, but they have returned after the track crew adopted a new plan for the preparation and management of the racing surface. It would seem that this new approach has worked as the times in both qualification and eliminations were representative of Pro Stock in full flight. Continue reading
Ljungdahl stamps his foot and the rains come down
The 2016 season is not going exactly as the main players might have hoped. After a predictable result to the Santa Pod round came the shock of Tierp one where Michael Malmgren failed to qualify for the first time in memory and Jimmy Ålund and Thomas Lindström both lost in the semis. The Pro Stock circus made its way to Finland in early July, and probably those three names thought they might get things back to the way they have become used to them being. Jimmy might have hoped to come away from Alastaro with a 50-100 point lead, while the Malmgren, Petersson and Lindström teams would have hoped to consolidate their positions in the next three places. Between a hard charging Bengt Ljungdahl, the rapid Finn Richard Sundblom and the weather gods, it was not to work out quite like they hoped! Continue reading
Rain ends a reign in Pro Stock at Tierp
For the second round of European Pro Stock at Tierp, ten cars would compete for the eight car ladder and the quality of the field promised excellence in every session. The weather had other ideas though, and heavy rain managed to put a stop to most of the racing on Friday and all of the racing on Saturday. Continue reading
Pro Stock review, The Main Event, Santa Pod Raceway
The 2016 Main Event escaped from the rain delays and bad weather associated with the season opener for the most part. A few hours were lost over the weekend for some very fine mistings of rain, but to all intents and purposes, the event ran without interruption from the weather gods. Continue reading
Thomas Lindström and the next generation
After a turbulent off-season 2015 “Very humble” FIA European Pro Stock Champion Thomas Lindström and Team R/T are ready to head to England for what will be the first of a limited schedule of races in 2016. Thomas writes: Continue reading

Ljungdahl Racing prepare for a full season
Bengt Ljungdahl joined the Pro Stock championship in 2014 with races at Alastaro and Tierp Arena. Two further FIA events followed in 2015. The team’s determination to run with the leaders was underlined over the closed season by the purchase of a Gray Motorsports 2015 Camaro. After testing at Tierp, Ljungdahl Racing are ready for a full season in the 2016 FIA European Pro Stock Championship. Continue reading
