Kim Kristiansen was a regular contender of the FIA European Pro Modified Championship, until the coronavirus pandemic forced him to take a break. That period of not racing was extended with another few years, but now he will be back. After almost eight months of hard work by Joeri Woudenberg in the Netherlands to update the famous Pontiac Firebird ‘68, the man from Denmark will make his comeback at Tierp Arena.

With a runner-up finish at the SpeedEvents Internationals, David Vegter took the lead in the FIA European Pro Modified Championship. At the opening race of the season in England, Vegter claimed the first qualifying position. With the Vegter Pro Mod Racing ’67 Camaro, the Dutchman repeated this feat at round two in Sweden. In this race at Tierp Arena, Vegter advanced to the final by defeating his closest competitor in the title race. The runner-up position was enough to take the lead in the standings of this prestigious championship with a 35-point advantage over the number two.

Antti Horto, Tony Bryntesson, Andreas Arthursson and Jimmy Ålund winners at SpeedEvents Internationals

Antti Horto raced to victory by defeating Duncan Micallef in the Top Fuel final for the SpeedEvents Internationals at Tierp Arena, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. In Top Methanol Tony Bryntesson won a quick and close final over Jonny Lagg, while Andreas Arthursson and Jimmy Ålund claimed the win in Pro Modified and Pro Stock. With three winners from Sweden, the race was very successful for the organizing Scandinavian country.

At the first day of qualifying for the SpeedEvents Internationals four drivers from Sweden took the lead in the four categories of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. As expected there were numerous improvements on day two with dramatic changes in the qualifying order as a result. In Top Fuel Duncan Micallef, from Malta, stormed into the number one qualifying position, Sandro Bellio, from Belgium, took over the lead in Top Methanol and Dutchman David Vegter stormed into the lead in Pro Modified. Jimmy Ålund (Pro Stock) was the only driver who was able to remain in the number one position and the only number one qualifier from Sweden. Thus Micallef, Bellio, Vegter and Ålund will lead their respective categories into Sunday’s eliminations at round two of the 2024 FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena.

Susanne Callin is in the provisional number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the SpeedEvents Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena in Sweden. In Top Methanol Tony Bryntesson is the provisional leader, while in Pro Modified and Pro Stock Andreas Arthursson and Jimmy Ålund claimed the provisional number one qualifying position after two runs. With four drivers from Sweden leading their respective categories, the home crowd has plenty to cheer for on day two.

After a weather affected start at Santa Pod Raceway, the FIA European Drag Racing Championship continues with the SpeedEvents Internationals at Tierp Arena, Sweden. Due to the rain, no winners were crowned in England, so let’s hope the full points and trophies can be awarded after a great race weekend at Tierp Arena. The first round of the FIA European Championship was an indication who might be the title favourites this season, but with four rounds to go and a tough competition, anything can happen.

Rain brings early end to The Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway

Rain brought an early end to the eliminations of The Main Event, round one of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Santa Pod Raceway. After a rain delay in the morning, the FIA classes Top Fuel, Top Methanol and Pro Stock had completed their first round of eliminations, and Pro Modified their second round, when the rain came back several times. Although the Santa Pod Raceway crew did their very best to dry the track, it was impossible to start racing again.
