Pro Stock news for 2016 season
As the 2016 FIA European Drag Racing season approaches, kicking off at Santa Pod, England in May, there is much news in the class to relate.
For the 2016 season, NHRA have mandated the use of Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) engines. The familiar hood scoops of Pro-Stock cars are no more, at least for the American racers of the NHRA. In Europe, the teams will be allowed to continue with naturally aspirated, carburettor power plants for the 2016 season. An EFI team would be allowed in to competition this year, however there are no such equipped teams therefore it is a largely irrelevant point. Continue reading
Playboy Energy Drink gives Vegter Pro Mod Racing energy to play
Vegter Pro Mod Racing get an extra energy injection, as the Dutch drag racing team is proud to announce Playboy Energy Drink as a new partner. The world famous logo will be seen on the Vegter Pro Mod Racing ’67 Camaro in their 2016 FIA European Pro Modified Championship campaign. “A great name and a world famous logo, of course I’m very proud and happy to represent them”, said David Vegter. After last week’s announcement that Sonic Equipment and WVB Holland extended their partnership with the team, there is even more good news, as longtime partner HKR Techniek will also support the Dutch Pro Modified team again in 2016. Sonic and Vegter Pro Mod Racing extend partnership for 2016 FIA European Championship
David Vegter is proud to announce that Sonic Equipment and his team Vegter Pro Mod Racing will extend their partnership for another year! In 2015 the name of the well-known hand tools company was seen on the Vegter Pro Mod Racing ’67 Camaro for the first time. Sonic and Vegter Pro Mod Racing were both happy with the results of their cooperation and so Sonic decided to support the team again in their 2016 FIA European Pro Modified Championship campaign. “I’m very proud that such a well-known company wants us to represent their name at the European race tracks for the second consecutive year. In December 2015, FIA announced the addition of championship, round #7, to be hosted by the Mediterranean island of Malta, September 30th – October 2nd 2016.

Åsa Kinnemar Chief Executive Officer for Speedgroup AB
Starting New Year with a brief communique from the Board of Speedgroup. Speedgroup Board of Directors has made the decision to promote Åsa Kinnemar as Chief Executive Officer for Speedgroup AB, effective January 1, 2016. Åsa is an asset to the company, has shown good leadership and communications skills. She has a solid background in drag racing and is familiar with and has a good understanding of the company and the business.
Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Pelle Lindelöw says:
“I am delighted to welcome Åsa Kinnemar as our CEO. She brings substantial experience in European and International drag racing, both from her own experiences in be part of running drag racing team for several years, as well as administrator of the series Speedgroup is handling and all sorts of “behind the scenes work”. We are looking forward to working with her to continue to build on the series and to strengthen drag racing in Europe.”
The Speedgroup Board will continue with the same composition as before, ie:

The 2016 FIA European Drag Racing Championship Rules Online
The 2016 FIA European Drag Racing Championship Rules, the 2016 SFI List and the 2016 FIA Technical Regulations and Race Procedures are now published on www.fia.com
There are new rules and clarifications in the 2016 FIA European Drag Racing Championship Rules, which the FIA Drag Racing Commission have changed for 2016. A clarification concerning points when there is an infraction post or exclusion, suspension or a disqualification. The traveling compensation have been adjust and there is a new article about a traction assessment test that have to been made before an event.
Lars Pettersson Vice President in the FIA Drag Racing Commission would like to take this opportunity to remind Officials and Drivers/Teams also to read and study the FIA International Sporting Code and the appendix. There are lots of rules and chapters that all have to understand and follow.

Robin Norén makes his Pro Stock dreams come true
No thoughtless steps for Robin Norén, but a careful planning had to lead to the young Swedish driver’s ultimate goal, Pro Stock. After his first starts in Super Comp, he won the title in this 8.9-second index class in 2013. Competition Eliminator was his next step up the ladder, with a runner-up finish in the 2015 championship as a result. But now it’s time for the 24-year old Norén to make his dreams come true and step up to Pro Stock in 2016 with a Pontiac GTO. Continue reading
