Ida Zetterström, Jonny Lagg, David Vegter and Jimmy Ålund leaders after the first day of qualifying for the NitrOlympX

Ida Zetterström raced to the provisional number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the NitrOlympX, the third round  of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the Rico Anthes Quartermile of the HockenheimRing in Germany. In Top Methanol Jonny Lagg is the leader after two runs with 5.49 seconds. David Vegter claimed the provisional number one spot in Pro Modified with a great 5.93 seconds on his first run of the day, while in Pro Stock Jimmy Ålund is the provisional number one qualifier.

It was extremely hot at the HockenheimRing, with the threat of rain and thunder showers in the afternoon. But the weather was with the racers and the two qualifying runs were completed without any problems, although the ETs were not that good as a result of the high temperatures.

In Top Fuel most runs ended in an ‘up in smoke’ halftrack. Ida Zetterström kept her foot down on the second run and recorded 4.28 seconds to claim the lead after day one.

Antti Horto is the number two qualifier with 5.42 seconds, while Jndia Erbacher is the number three with 5.55 seconds.

Susanne Callin and Dennis Nilsson are the provisional numbers four and five and will have some work to do on the Saturday.

In Top Methanol Jonny Lagg recorded 5.49 seconds to claim the number one position, with Linn Fløysvik in second position.

Tony Bryntesson is third, while championship leader Sandro Bellio suffered some problems and is in fourth position.

In Pro Modified David Vegter stormed to the number one qualifying position with a great 5.93 seconds on his first run of the day.

Mats Eriksson, number one qualifier at Tierp, recorded 5.94 seconds and is the number two qualifier, with reigning champion Jan Ericsson third with 6.00 seconds.

Michel Tooren recorded 6.02 seconds and is the second driver from the Netherlands and the number four qualifier, while Marcus Perman claimed the number five spot with 6.14 seconds.

In Pro Stock it was once again Jimmy Ålund who claimed the number one position with  6.65 seconds. Michael Malmgren is not far behind with 6.69 seconds, and a far from trouble free Stefan Ernryd is third with 6.72 seconds.

Qualifying for the NitrOlympX, round three of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship continues on the Saturday.
