Liam Jones, Jonny Lagg, Andreas Arthursson and Jimmy Ålund leaders after the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals at Tierp Arena

Liam Jones raced to the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, round two of the 2019 FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena. In Top Methanol Jonny Lagg is the leader after two runs, while in Pro Modified Andreas Arthursson stormed to a great 5.84 seconds and is in the number one qualifying position. In Pro Stock multiple champion Jimmy Ålund claimed the provisional number one qualifying position.

Warm weather at the first day of qualifying for the Tierp Internationals, round two of the 2019 FIA European Drag Racing Championship at the state-of-the-art drag racing facility of Tierp Arena, Sweden.

In Top Fuel Liam Jones stormed to the lead with a great 3.891 seconds in his second run of the day. Anita Mäkelä, winner of the first round in England, was not far behind with 3.91 seconds.

Maja Udtian stormed to her first 3-second run with a great 3.98 seconds to claim the provisional number three position. Stig Neergaard was the first driver in the 4 seconds with 4.11 seconds. Timo Lehtimäki is the number five after two runs.

In Top Methanol Jonny Lagg impressed in his second run with a great 5.45 seconds with rookie Silvio Strauch in second position. Sandro Bellio, winner of the first round in England, had traction problems and is in third position with rookie Daniel Jedborn fourth.

In Pro Modified Andreas Arthursson stormed to a great 5.845 seconds. David Vegter stunned again with a great 5.94 seconds and is in the number two qualifying position. Jan Ericsson was the third driver in the 5 seconds with 5.95 seconds, with Mats Eriksson in fourth position with 6.03 seconds.

There will definitely be more drivers to break into the 5-second zone tomorrow. Michael Gullqvist, winner at Santa Pod, had engine problems in the first run and is in 12th position. Even bigger were the problems for reigning champion Jimmy Ålund who is in 19th position and so far not qualified.

Jimmy Ålund was more lucky in his second run in Pro Stock as the multiple champion stormed to a great 6.585 seconds to take over the lead from Michael Malmgren, leader after the first round of qualifying. Thomas Lindström (6.644 seconds) is in third position with Stefan Ernryd close behind in fourth (6.646 seconds) and Robin Norén also close behind in fifth (6.649 seconds).

Qualifying for the Tierp Internationals continues Saturday.
