Friday leaders Stig Neergaard (Top Fuel), Michael Gullqvist (Pro Modified), Bengt Ljungdahl (Pro Stock) and Johnny Oksa (Top Methanol Funny Car) claimed the number one qualifying positions at the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro and will lead their classes into Sunday’s eliminations at round three of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Vesa Lipponen raced to the surprising number one qualifying position in Super Twin Motorcycle at the first day of qualifying for the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round two of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Alastaro, Finland. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Kalle Lyrén impressed with a stunning 7.01 seconds and will enter day two as the clear leader is his category. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Jan Sturla Hegre and in Super Street Bike Alex Hope are the leaders at Alastaro with still two qualifying runs on Saturday to go. Continue reading

Stig Neergaard raced to the number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round three of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Alastaro, Finland. In Pro Modified reigning champion Michael Gullqvist was quickest in both runs and leads the field with two more qualifying sessions to go. In Pro Stock Bengt Ljungdahl surprised favourite Jimmy Ǻlund and is the number one qualifier, while in Top Methanol Funny Car local hero Johnny Oksa leads the field after day one. Continue reading
Anita Mäkelä defeats Birgitte Bremnes in first-ever all-female FIA Top Fuel final
Anita Mäkelä raced to victory at the Tierp Internationals in a historic race as it was the first-ever all-female Top Fuel final in the history of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Mäkelä defeated Birgitte Bremnes, and as the Finnish racer was the only driver to record 3.9-second runs at Tierp Arena, she deserved the win at the track where Mäkelä already made history last year with her European record runs. Michael Gullqvist is fast at the right moment and claims victory at Tierp
Michael Gullqvist once again proved at the Tierp Internationals that you don’t have to be the quickest all weekend to win a race. The reigning FIA European Pro Modified champion was the number ten qualifier, but stepped up in eliminations to run 5.9 seconds when he needed to most, and beat Mats Eriksson in the final to take the lead in the championship. But there were other drivers who impressed at Tierp Arena too, such as Åke Persson with 5.88 seconds and David Vegter with two 6.00-second runs. Continue reading
Rain ends a reign in Pro Stock at Tierp
For the second round of European Pro Stock at Tierp, ten cars would compete for the eight car ladder and the quality of the field promised excellence in every session. The weather had other ideas though, and heavy rain managed to put a stop to most of the racing on Friday and all of the racing on Saturday. Continue reading
Chris Polidano maximizes at Tierp Internationals
With two entrants, there were not too many points to collect in Top Methanol Dragster at the Tierp Internationals. But Chris Polidano made the best of it and couldn’t have done any better, earning the bonus points for being quickest in every qualifying session, ending up as the number one qualifier, and winning the final. The 2014 FIA European TMD champion from Malta is also the new leader in the 2016 championship. Continue reading
A warm, fast and sunny raceweeken at Tallhed Raceway
The most startling at the midsummer race in Orsa was Villiam Svensson’s dial-in time. He has just started to compete in the Junior Dragster class. He took the No. 1 qualifying spot on Saturday with the reaction time 0.0002 sec.
