It was a great day of racing at Tierp Arena with many major upsets in eliminations and several surprise winners in the EDRS Pro Car classes at the EDRS Sweden Nationals.

The first round of eliminations in Bilsport EDRS Pro Modified was full of upsets. Multiple FIA European champion Michael Gullqvist and Mats Eriksson ran into problems and were defeated, while Roger Johansson was not able to start after the Swedish veteran Pro Mod racer suffered engine problems in qualifying. Star of round one was Andreas Arthursson. The number one qualifier stormed to a stunning 5.713 seconds at 416.99 km/h, the best ET ever recorded in Europe so far and a new EDRS record. But it was also the end of his race as the turbo engine suffered severe damage in the run and Arthursson had to withdraw from eliminations.

There were no problems for the number two qualifier, Jan Ericsson. After defeating Marcus Perman in the first round and Marck Harteveld, who recorded a new personal best with 5.92 seconds, in the quarter finals, the reigning FIA European Pro Modified champion had to face David Vegter in the semifinals. Ericsson recorded another strong 5.8 seconds, while Vegter ran into problems. In the final Ericsson had to face Stian Rusånes, from Norway. The number twelve qualifier surprised with wins over Gullqvist, Jesper Stenberg and Åke Persson.

In the final Rusånes fairy tale weekend came to an end as Ericsson was once again in a class of his own and stormed to the win in 5.80 seconds.

In Pro Stock the number two qualifier, Stefan Ernryd, was out in the first round after the Dodge driver suffered tyreshake. Jimmy Ålund, the number one qualifier, was once again in a class of his own. The multiple FIA European champion defeated Lasse Britsmar and Robin Norén in consistent 6.60-second runs. For Norén it was his first race in his new car and as he improved every run, Norén was still happy after the race.

In the final Ålund had to face Richard Sundblom, the number three qualifier from Finland. In the final Sundblom immediately ran into problems with tyreshake while Ålund stormed to the win in 6.615 seconds.

In Top Methanol Magnus Larsson surprised. In his first race in a Top Methanol Funny Car the rookie advanced to the final after Silvio Strauch ran into problems in the burn out and number one qualifier Jonny Lagg pulled a red light in the semifinal. Daniel Jedborn, the number two qualifier, advanced to the final after defeating Tony Bryntesson in the first round and a bye run in the semifinal.

In the final Larsson suffered tyreshake while Jedbord ran a solid 5.60 seconds to claim the victory.

In Competition Eliminator the numbers one and two qualifiers, Roger Forsström and Jens Eklund, went out in the first round. Eliminations were an all foreign affair as Jens Zimmermann from Germany and Stefan Winter from Switzerland advanced to the final. In the final Winter took the win light.

In Pro Street the number one qualifier Christer Åberg went all the way to the final to meet the number fifteen qualifier Birgitta Lindström. In the final Åberg went too quick for the 7.6- second index, handing the win to Lindström.

In the extremely close 30-car Stock Super Stock field Bo Nylund and Erik Phersson had to face each other in the final. As Phersson broke out, the winners trophy went to Nylund.
