Ida Zetterström, Jan Ericsson, Linn Fløysvik and Michael Malmgren 2023 FIA European Drag Racing champions
Ida Zetterström (Top Fuel), Jan Ericsson (Pro Modified), Linn Fløysvik (Top Methanol) and Michael Malmgren (Pro Stock) claimed the 2023 FIA European Drag Racing Championship titles in their respective categories at the European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway. Zetterström won her title in style by claiming the victory in the final round of the 2023 FIA European Drag Racing Championship as well. Fløysvik secured her title by defeating Sandro Bellio in the semifinals, while Malmgren defeated Stefan Ernryd in the semifinals to win the title. The European Finals event win in Top Methanol and Pro Stock went to Johnny Oksa and Simon Ekengren respectively. In Pro Modified Ericsson retained his title with his Hockenheim win, thus a semifinal finish didn’t hurt the Swede, while David Vegter claimed his first FIA European Championship race win.

After an engine rebuild overnight, Rikard Gustafsson suffered more damage on his one pass today but carried over the 5.9 from yesterday to keep the top spot in FIM-E Top Fuel Bike.

An unseasonal heatwave (and it was certainly hot) stressed out a lot of things at Santa Pod for Friday’s qualifying sessions, but at the end of the two rounds the current championship/cup leaders sat on top of the pile in all bar one of the five classes.

Ida Zetterström is the provisional number one qualifier in Top Fuel after the first day of qualifying for the European Finals, the fifth and final round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Santa Pod Raceway in England. In Top Methanol Sandro Bellio is in the lead after day one, while Jan Ericsson stormed to a great 5.82 seconds to take the lead in Pro Modified. In Pro Stock Michael Malmgren claimed the provisional number one qualifying position with a great 6.68 seconds ET.

This weekend sees the culmination of the FIM-E Dragbike series at Santa Pod Raceway and while the championship has been decided in three of the categories, the fourth is very much in the mix and there are a number of teams looking to reset records and PBs across the piece.

The FIA European Drag Racing Championship reaches its climax with the European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway, the traditional grand finale of the season. In two categories the championship will go down to the wire as the top three are still close together, while in the other two classes the names of the champions can almost be filled in already. In Top Fuel Ida Zetterström will claim her first FIA European title, while in Pro Modified strange things must happen if Jan Ericsson is not retain his title. But in Top Methanol and Pro Stock the title fight is still open. All in all there are great prospects for a spectacular grand finale.

Ida Zetterström and team RF Motorsport took home the win at the prestigious NitrOlympX event at the HockenheimRing, Germany. The event was the second to last event of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship and Ida extended her championship lead up to 100 points over Susanne Callin.
