Susanne Callin, Sandro Bellio, Marck Harteveld and Robin Norén number one qualifiers at The Main Event

Susanne Callin (Top Fuel), Sandro Bellio (Top Methanol), Marck Harteveld (Pro Modified) and Robin Norén (Pro Stock) improved on their Saturday performance to claim the number one positions in Sunday qualifying for The Main Event, round one of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. These four drivers will lead their respective categories into Monday’s eliminations at Santa Pod Raceway. Looking at the qualifying lists, it will be an exciting and action packed bank holiday Monday at Santa Pod.

Most of the usual suspects lead the way after a tricky opening qualifying day at the FIM-E Dragbike Championship Round One, The Main Event, held at Santa Pod Raceway. With a late start thanks to some early morning rain (holding a drag racing event is the guaranteed way to break a two-month long drought in the United Kingdom) accompanied by a strong breeze and rapidly cooling conditions for the second session of the day.

It’s the end of May and that means the engines can finally be fired up again and the thousands of horsepower unleashed for the start of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. The most prestigious drag racing championship in Europe kicks off with the traditional opener, The Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway! Jndia Erbacher (Top Fuel), Jonny Lagg (Top Methanol), Jere Rantaniemi (Pro Modified) and Jimmy Ålund (Pro Stock) are the reigning champions, and the good news is that they will all defend their hard fought titles. What to expect in England, who are the favourites and who might surprise? It will once again be a tough fight with a title race that could go down to the wire, like last year when several titles were won and lost in the last run of the season.

The 2024 Summit Racing EDRS Series Top Doorslammer champion found a new challenge in a well-known Chevrolet Camaro with a blower engine. Sjӧholm and his LSR Motorsport team will try to get familiar with the new combination in the EDRS Bilsport Pro Modified Series, to enter the FIA European Championship later this year.
