Vegter Pro Mod Racing in the starting blocks for a busy 2025 season

This coming weekend, Vegter Pro Mod Racing’s drag racing season will officially kick off with The Doorslammers at Santa Pod Raceway. One week later, it’s time for the first round of the FIA European Pro Modified Championship, in which David Vegter once again wants to score high. But in addition to the FIA European Championship, Vegter Pro Mod Racing will also compete in several rounds of the Motorsport UK Pro Modified Championship, which means that the Dutch top team have a busy season ahead.

David Vegter finished the 2024 season with a second position in the FIA European Pro Modified Championship, another top result in a string of great finishes in the title race. There was not much time to celebrate, as the preparations for the 2025 season started soon after the last race of 2024. David Vegter and his team have worked hard the last couple of months to take an extra step this year. The Vegter Pro Mod Racing ’67 Camaro was completely stripped, checked and rebuilt. The car got some updates, new FuelTech equipment and all wiring was renewed. In addition to that, extra parts were ordered for the engine to be sure that there would be enough spare parts for the long season to come. The last work on the Camaro has now been done and the engine has been started for the first time. The car will get a slightly different design, but that will be revealed at a later date.

The first race of the new season is scheduled for next weekend with The Doorslammers at Santa Pod Raceway. This standalone race is a perfect test for David Vegter and his team to be well prepared for The Main Event, the first round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, which will also take place at Santa Pod Raceway a week later. The Pro Modified class is once again the largest and most international class of the FIA EC this season, with participants from no fewer than ten different European countries. The FIA European Pro Modified Championship also includes a round at the Swedish Tierp Arena and the German Hockenheimring, before returning to Santa Pod Raceway in early September for the grand finale. The FIA European Pro Modified Championship, in which Vegter finished in the runner-up position the past two years, remains the main goal for Vegter Pro Mod Racing. However, because there is a long period between the opening round at the end of May at Santa Pod and the second round at the beginning of August at Tierp Arena, Vegter has decided to also participate in two rounds of the Motorsport UK Pro Modified Championship. These events, the Summer Nationals and the Bug Jam, will also be held at Santa Pod Raceway. If everything goes according to plan, Vegter Pro Mod Racing will also compete in the National Finals.

Earlier this year it was announced that Race Winning Brands Europe have extended their partnership with Vegter Pro Mod Racing, that started last year, by two seasons, and that they are also expanding this partnership. Race Winning Brands Europe will be clearly visible in the pits of the Vegter Pro Mod Racing team at every FIA European Championship race. But Vegter Pro Mod Racing are also very pleased that the cooperation with various other loyal partners will be continued. For example, the name Red Line Synthetic Oil will return to the Camaro and the team will once again use this highly praised oil. Velocity Classics and Post & Dros Racing Engines & Parts will also be back again, as will LV Performance Racewear & Parts, the dealer of Simpson Race Products in Europe. In addition, the collaboration with FuelTech will be expanded and there are close ties with Noonan, the American company that is best known for their cylinder heads.

“We are looking forward to the start of the new season. It will be an exciting battle in the FIA European Championship as there are several fast drivers and teams that are hunting for the title. With the races of the British championship added to our calendar, it will be a busy and exciting season. We are proud to represent the partners who support us on the tracks. As always, we aim for the highest possible, but in drag racing you never know how it will turn out. Every fraction of a second can be decisive for victory or defeat and there is no second chance,” said David Vegter and Elin Lindegren, the driving forces behind Vegter Pro Mod Racing.
