Marck Harteveld to defend number one position FIA European Championship at Tierp

Marck Harteveld has added Tierp Arena to his programme and will therefore do the full FIA European Championship tour this season. After a sabbatical, the original plan of the Voodoo Hemi Racing driver was to only participate in the two FIA European Championship races at Santa Pod Raceway and the NitrOlympX at the Hockenheimring. Last weekend’s results made Harteveld change his mind.

Before the start of the season, Marck Harteveld announced that he would skip the FIA European Championship race at the Swedish Tierp Arena. After the opening round of the FIA European Championship at Santa Pod, The Main Event, Voodoo Hemi Racing would join the tour again at the end of August and the beginning of September with participation in the NitrOlympX at the Hockenheimring and the European Finals at Santa Pod. By missing one of the four races of the FIA European Pro Modified Championship, the chances of winning the title were limited.

The Doorslammers, in preparation for The Main Event, went well for Harteveld and The Main Event went even better. Harteveld claimed the number one qualifying position in the 16-car field with 5.871 seconds, reset his personal best to 5.859 seconds in the first round of eliminations and advanced to the semi-finals with another great 5.89-second ET. Unfortunately, due to the rain, the race was called before the semi-finals could be completed.

As a result, Harteveld is now leading the FIA European Pro Modified Championship after round one. Given the results and his consistency, the team have now decided to add the race at Tierp Arena to the calendar and thus take part in all four rounds of the FIA European Championship. With such a good starting position, Harteveld does not want to miss out on the chance of a top ranking in the final standings.
