Vegter Pro Mod Racing are ready for the new season

After months of preparation, the time has finally come. The Vegter Pro Mod Racing ’67 Camaro can leave the workshop for the first runs of the season. With several technical updates and a fresh look, David Vegter and his team travel to Santa Pod Raceway for The Main Event, May 25 to 27. In preparation for this first round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, Vegter will first take part in next weekend’s The Doorslammers at the same English track.

It have been busy months again for Vegter Pro Mod Racing. After an intense 2023 season, which ended with a victory at the European Finals and a runner-up position in the FIA European Pro Modified Championship, the ’67 Camaro was completely stripped again. The rebuild has now been completed, parts have been replaced where necessary, updates have been carried out and the body of the car has been completely tightened and painted again. After that it was time to start the engine again for the first time and that also went according to plan, completing the preparations for the new season, as far as that had to be done in the team’s workshop.

The first test is scheduled for next weekend with The Doorslammers at Santa Pod Raceway, before the FIA European Championship officially kicks off a week later at the same English track with The Main Event. “We only go to the Doorslammers to be well prepared for the European Championship, but if things go well right away, you never know,” said David Vegter. After The Doorslammers it’s time for the kick-off of the five-round FIA European Championship, which after England visits Sweden (Tierp Arena) twice, before returning via the NitrOlympX at Hockenheim to Santa Pod for the final round, the European Finals, early September. Last year, the European Finals was the highlight so far for Vegter and his team as they claimed the victory and finished as the runner-up in the FIA European Pro Modified Championship for the second year in a row. “I’m looking forward to starting again. We will of course do everything we can to perform as well as possible and climb a spot in the rankings. However, anything is possible in drag racing, so you never know how the season will go,” Vegter looked ahead.

In recent months, Vegter Pro Mod Racing have already announced two new partners. First there was Red Line Synthetic Oil, the manufacturer of the widely praised oil that Vegter Pro Mod Racing have been using for several years and that, starting this season, have linked their name to the Dutch team. Velocity Classics, the Rijsenhout-based company specialized in selling exclusive (American) muscle cars and classic cars, are the team’s partner since 2022. Velocity Classics have cars in stock and also search worldwide for a customer’s dream car.
