Susanne Callin, Jan Ericsson, Daniel Jedborn and Michael Malmgren leaders after the first day of qualifying for the European Finals
Susanne Callin is the provisional number one qualifier in Top Fuel after the first day of qualifying for the European Finals, the fourth and final round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Santa Pod Raceway in England. In Top Methanol Daniel Jedborn impressed with a great 5.30 seconds to take the lead after day one, while Jan Ericsson stormed to a great 5.81 seconds to take the lead in Pro Modified. In Pro Stock Michael Malmgren claimed the provisional number one qualifying position with a great 6.60 seconds ET.
A long rain delay at the first day of qualifying for the European Finals at Santa Pod Raceway was the reason that only one of the scheduled two qualifying runs were completed before it was getting dark and too cold at the track.
The Top Fuel category had to make their qualifying run after a long rain delay and that seriously influenced the results. Susanne Callin was the only driver that was able to record an ET. The number three in the championship crossed the finish line in 5.80 seconds.
Championship leader Antti Horto and number two Ida Zetterström both went ‘up in smoke’ immediately at the start line and didn’t record an ET.
In Pro Modified championship leader Jan Ericsson stormed to a great 5.81 seconds to claim the provisional number one qualifying position. Roger Johansson surprised with 5.94 seconds to finish qualifying after day one in the second position. The driver from Sweden had a far from trouble free season so far, but at Santa Pod everything fell into place.
Bobby Wallace is the number three qualifier with 6.02 seconds and he is the first driver from the UK. Jean Dulamon from France surprised with a great 6.052 seconds to claim the provisional number four spot, just ahead of Bruno Bader with 6.056 seconds. The numbers two, three, four and five in the championship, Andres Arnover, David Vegter, Michel Tooren and Marck Harteveld have some work to do as they are in 7th, 13th, 6th and 10th position respectively.
In Top Methanol Daniel Jedborn stormed to a great 5.30 seconds to claim the provisional number one qualifying position.
Jonny Lagg, the number two in the title race, claimed the provisional number two position, with Linn Fløysvik third and championship leader Sandro Bellio only in fifth position.
In Pro Stock, championship leader Jimmy Ålund suffered severe tyre shake at the start line and finished the first day of qualifying in third position. Michael Malmgren made an excellent run to record a great 6.60 seconds, claiming the provisional number one position.
Stefan Ernryd is the number two qualifier after one run with 6.72 seconds.
