Micke Kågered, Mats Eriksson, Timo Habermann and Leif Andreasson number one qualifiers at 30th NitrOlympX

Micke Kågered

Micke Kågered is the new leader in Top Fuel after the second and final day of qualifying at the Rico Anthes Quartermile. Mats Eriksson (Pro Modified), Timo Habermann (Top Methanol Dragster) and Leif Andreasson (Top Methanol Funny Car) remained at the top of their categories and will lead their respective categories into Sunday eliminations for the 30th NitrOlympX at Hockenheim, the fourth round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Especially in Top Fuel the field is extremely close, so eliminations will be exciting.

Although it was not as warm as at the first day of qualifying, the heat was still extreme at the Rico Anthes Quartermile on Saturday. As a result the air was still not good enough to run record ETs, but still the crew chiefs found a way to improve the performance of their cars as almost all drivers improved on their Friday times.

Micke Kågered

In Top Fuel Micke Kågered jumped from the last position on Friday to the number one qualifying position on Saturday. The reigning FIA European champion improved to 4.227 seconds in the second qualifying pass of the weekend, good enough to keep the number one position at the end of the day.

Stig Neergaard

Stig Neergaard improved to 4.253 seconds and stayed in the number two position. Only 0.003 seconds short of the Dane is Liam Jones, while another 0.002 seconds separates Anita Mäkelä from the British driver.

Liam Jones

Duncan Micallef is fifth, while Friday leader Jari Halinen couldn’t improve his time and ended qualifying as the number six. Urs Erbacher will start eliminations form seventh and last position. With five drivers within 0.07 seconds of each other and 0.005 seconds separating the numbers two and four qualifier, eliminations will be very exiting.

Mats Eriksson

In Pro Modified Mats Eriksson kept his number one position but had to improve his ET to 6.152 seconds to stay in the lead. Michael Gullqvist is only 0.011 seconds behind in second position, while Bruno Bader improved to 6.232 and is third.

Robert Joosten also improved on his Friday performance but dropped one place and ended qualifying as the number four. Marco Maurischat and Hakan Persson are fifth and sixth. Except one driver all entries could make a run today and so fourteen drivers will take part in eliminations.

Timo Habermann

In Top Methanol Dragster Friday leader Timo Habermann improved to a great 5.38 seconds and stayed in the number one qualifying position. His brother Dennis improved to 5.46 seconds and took over the number two position from Jonny Lagg, who is third now.

Leif Andreasson

Leif Andreasson could not improve on his Friday performance, but the 5.92 seconds was enough to keep the Swede in the number one position. Jürgen Nagel is the number two qualifier.

Eliminations at Hockenheim will start tomorrow morning.
