Drag Challenge have crowned winners!

Drag Challenge 2022 at Gardermoen Raceway in Norway was held this last weekend. The year 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the organizing club NDRG and racing at Gardermoen Raceway. It was great event with record breaking all over including attendance. And a trackside wedding.

In addition, the drivers competing in the Summit Racing Super Series have now all been sorted out for having qualified for the final Shoot-out that takes place during the Summit Racing Internationals at Tierp Arena next weekend.

This race weekend at Gardermoen Racetrack was as usual a great event. The track delivered and made for quick and fast numbers with many new personal bests across all classes. This included new world best numbers for an electric vehicle and European bests for the fantastic Kawasaki 750 2-stroke bikes. In Pro Street, the top 5 qualifiers were all in within a time span of 0.0055 seconds, as usual ending up with a very tight field going into eliminations. In Super Comp Bike the top two, Peter Svensson and Peter Östlund, ran the exact same number down to 1/10000 of a secons, 8.5041 seconds, in the same pair. There were tight races and solid performances in all classes just the way it should be in high quality drag racing.

There was also a very heart warming happening during the weekend that is worth mentioning. Hans-Olav Olstad and Margerethe Winter Nilsen got married on the track on Saturday evening. Hans-Olav has had a tough year coming back from a serious on-track accident last fall and now he and his wife have capped another very positive milestone. We wish them all the best for the future.

The next race at Gardermoen Raceway will be the weekend of September 9-11, the Drag Finals. It is one of the two last races in the Summit Racing EDRS Series, the other one being the Finals at the Kauhava racetrack in Finland. That event is on the same date as at Gardermoen raceway. It will be an exciting weekend, deciding the final results and winners for this season.
