Susanne Callin, Tony Bryntesson, Jimmy Ålund and Jere Rantaniemi number one qualifiers at Summit Racing Equipment Internationals

As expected there were many improvements on the second day of qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals at Tierp Arena. As a result in Top Fuel Susanne Callin took over the number one qualifying position and in Top Methanol Tony Bryntesson was the new leader at the end of day two. In Pro Modified and Pro Stock there were also many improvements, but Friday leaders Jere Rantaniemi and Jimmy Ålund remained in the number one position. These four drivers will lead their respective categories into Sunday’s eliminations of round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.
It was a long but also great day of racing at Tierp Arena for the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. Perfect weather conditions made it that the many spectators in the packed grandstands saw many great runs, with new personal bests and many improvements compared to the ETs recorded in Friday qualifying.

In Top Fuel Susanne Callin stormed to a great 3.880 seconds on her first run of the day to take over the number one position from Liam Jones, who recorded 3.887 seconds on Friday.

Jones recorded another great 3.90 seconds on his second run on Saturday, but that was not enough to reclaim the number one position from his RF Motorsport teammate.

In Top Methanol Tony Bryntesson stormed to 5.249 seconds, a new personal best for the driver from Sweden and enough to take over the number one qualifying position from Friday leader Jonny Lagg.

Tina Høst Nedregård also improved her ET to 5.29 seconds and that handed the Norwegian-Swedish driver the number three position. Sandro Bellio remained in the number four position and he was again the best funny car driver in the 9-car field.

Magnus Larsson jumped from the ninth position on Friday into the number five qualifying position.

In Pro Modified there were numerous improvement, but there was no change in the number one position. Friday leader Jere Rantaniemi improved to a great 5.824 seconds and that was enough to claim the number one position for Sunday eliminations.

There was a major improvement for Mats Eriksson as the Swede recorded 5.86 seconds to jump from the twelfth into the second position. Andreas Arthursson was not able to improve his Friday ET. The Swede dropped one position and finished qualifying in third position.

Michel Tooren (5.877 seconds) is the number four qualifier, with Andres Arnover fifth (5.88 seconds) and David Vegter sixth (5,90 seconds). Marck Harteveld, Lars Sjöholm and Peter Kunc also recorded 5.9-second runs, with Michael Gullqvist in tenth position as the first driver with a 6.00 second ET. With the top ten so close together, the 16-car field will see an exciting elimination.

In Pro Stock the top two remained unchanged with Jimmy Ålund (6.56 seconds) in the number one position and Robin Norén (6.60 seconds) second.

Richard Sundblom improved to 6.644 seconds to jump into the number three position, with Stefan Ernryd improving to 6.648 seconds to take over the number four spot. Friday’s number three qualifier Christian Sagelv dropped into the number five position.

Eliminations for the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals at Tierp Arena will start Sunday morning.
