Liam Jones, Jonny Lagg, Jimmy Ålund and Jere Rantaniemi leaders after the first day of qualifying at Tierp Arena

Liam Jones claimed the provisional number one qualifying position in Top Fuel at the first day of qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena, Sweden. In Top Methanol Jonny Lagg stormed to a great 5.27 seconds and is the provisional leader, while in Pro Modified and Pro Stock Jere Rantaniemi and Jimmy Ålund recorded the quickest run and claimed the provisional number one qualifying position.
It was a great day of racing at Tierp Arena on the first day of qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals. Great weather conditions, sunshine and a cool wind made it to a great day with many exciting, quick and fast runs. With almost the same conditions on the Saturday, it will be a day worth visiting to see the fastest and quickest cars in Europe.

The Top Fuel Liam Jones stormed to a great 3.88 seconds at 500 kmh on his first run to claim the provisional number one qualifying position.

Susanne Callin needed a second run to record a 3.976 seconds and the driver from Sweden is the number two qualifier. But with two more runs tomorrow, both drivers will definitely try to improve their numbers.

In Top Methanol reigning FIA European champion Jonny Lagg stormed to a great 5.27 seconds to claim the provisional number one qualifying position.

Tina Høst Nedregård was the leader after the first run of the day with 5.380 seconds, but the ‘Norwegian-Swedish’ driver had to skip the second run of the day after she suffered engine problems.

Lagg’s A-Fuel Team Sweden teammate Tony Bryntesson is the provisional number three qualifier with 5.382 seconds, while Sandro Bellio is the first funny car in the field in fourth position.

In Pro Modified qualifying was once again close and exciting with six drivers recording a 5-second run. Especially on their second run of the day many drivers improved on their earlier performance.

Reining FIA European champion Jere Rantaniemi stormed to a great 5.84 seconds to take the lead, with Andreas Arthursson second with 5.871 seconds.

Michel Tooren had two great runs and his 5.877 seconds was good enough for the provisional number three spot.

David Vegter was not back to the form he showed before, but 5.90 seconds was enough to claim the number four position, with Andres Arnover fifth with 5.91 seconds. Championship leader Marck Harteveld is sixth with 5.94 seconds, while Michael Gullqvist is the first driver in the 22-car field with a 6-second run, 6.00 seconds.

In Pro Stock Jimmy Ålund claimed the provisional number one position with a great 6.56 seconds.

On his second run of the day Robin Norén came close to the number one position with 6.60 seconds. Christian Sagelv surprised once again with a great 6.67 seconds to claim the number three position, with Richard Sundblom fourth in 6.68 seconds.

Qualifying for the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship, continues on the Saturday. It will definitely be a great day.
