Racepak and Post & Dros are one of Speedgroup’s contingency partners. Almost two years ago Post & Dros Racing Engines & Parts, the European importer of all Racepak products, introduced a trackside support service at some FIA European Drag Racing Championship races. It was an instant success and Dick Koster, the Post & Dros employee and responsible for this service, was back in 2015 for all FIA races. But innovation never stops and to get the latest updates and tips and tricks of all Racepak products, Koster and his colleagues Egbert Dros and Erwin Pepping not only travelled to the Racepak headquarters in California, but also to Pomona, where Koster assisted the Racepak crew with their trackside support at the NHRA Circle K Winternationals.

Racepak hardly need any further introduction. They are the world’s leading company in data logging for all forms of motorsport (in drag racing from sportsman to professional racing). The company from Rancho Santa Margarita, California (fifty miles south of Los Angeles) has a large range of products, from the single original Racepak data recorder, to a large selection of unique loggers, software, gauges, and ancillary equipment, all designed for the sole purpose of gathering data.

Todd Paton and Dick Koster

Together with Egbert Dros and Erwin Pepping, Dick Koster travelled to Los Angeles. “The first day we went to the Racepak headquarters in Rancho Santa Margarita. We attended a course and got the latest information about Racepak products. Very interesting and useful as it was a special training for the Racepak Pro systems for Alcohol and Nitro cars”, said Dick Koster. The next day Dros and Pepping flew to El Paso to visit the MSD headquarters, while Dick Koster went to Auto Club Raceway at Pomona for day one of the NHRA Circle K Winternationals.

“The plan was to assist them one or two days with their trackside support, but in the end it was three or almost four days. And it was my best days ever at a drag race. Todd Paton, a Top Fuel and Top Alcohol driver himself, and Pro Systems Manager for Racepak, taught me a lot of new tips and tricks. We went over to all those icons in the sport you normally only hear and read of. From the Don Schumacher Racing pits to the John Force Racing trailer. After a fire in qualifying John Force’s car was heavily damaged and we had to help with the wiring. I talked to so many drivers, crew chiefs and crew members, absolutely fantastic. It was good to see what service they get here at the track. Racepak and MSD work from a big trailer in the manufacturers midway where they have everything in stock. Extremely professional. That I hardly saw any racing, was no problem. I can use all these new experiences and information when I’m back in Europe at the tracks. I’m sure I can answer more questions and do an even better job for the teams this season. I would like to say a big thank you to Todd and all other people at Racepak for their hospitality. It was awesome.” Dick Koster will be at all FIA European Championship races again this season to assist teams when they need help, have questions, or need Racepak parts.
