Alastaro Circuit is the second stop for the riders and teams of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship. With a racetrack, rally cross track and dragstrip, Alastaro is a multipurpose motorsport facility and very important for Finnish motorsport. But in the first weekend of July, with the FHRA Nitro Nationals, it’s all about drag racing at Alastaro. Teams and fans are looking forward to visit this special place. And as we understand, when you see ‘2 Moottoriurheilukeskus’, one of the most photographed road signs, you are almost there.

Alastaro Circuit is a multipurpose motorsport facility in the south-east of Finland. Apart from the dragstrip, Alastaro Circuit has a racetrack and a rally cross track, but can also be used for other forms of motorsport. The track is located not far from Virttaa, 160 kilometers from Helsinki and 65 kilometers from Turku, and can be reached by road 41 (Tampere – Nokia – Aura – Turku) and road 213 (Loimaa – Alastaro – Virttaa – Säkylä). Driving from Turku takes 45 minutes, from Tampere 60 minutes and from Helsinki 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Alastaro is the home track for the Finnish teams, but for the Swedish teams located near Stockholm, the track is also easy to reach. The FHRA Nitro Nationals is the most important race on the Finnish calendar, as all FIA European Drag Racing Championship and EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship teams will travel to Alastaro to fight for championship points. Many drag race fans will take the chance to see the fastest motorsport on earth and they are guaranteed to feel that special Alastaro atmosphere.

Last year, the drag race track was resurfaced. Everybody was impressed how good the track looked, but due to bad weather in the weeks before the race, there was not enough time for the necessary track preparation and so traction and elapsed times were not as good as expected. But now, the situation should be different and everybody is looked forward to an excellent meeting and new track records.

With round two of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship, the third round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship and many Sportsman classes racing for points in their nationals and EDRS championships, it will be an action packed four days of drag racing at Alastaro Circuit, and will in many ways be worth a visit.
