With only two shots at qualifying, any car that had struggled to get down the track cleanly was at risk of elimination. For the first time in recent memory, Michael Malmgren was outside the bump spot at the end of qualifying which is a major upset.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2236\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/06\/alund_2_tierp_i_lr.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2236\" class=\"wp-image-6642 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/alund_2_tierp_i_lr.jpg\" alt=\"alund_2_tierp_i_lr\" width=\"540\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/06\/alund_2_tierp_i_lr.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/06\/alund_2_tierp_i_lr-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2236\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jimmy \u00c5lund<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Qualifying<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The number one qualifier in round one was Thomas Lindstr\u00f6m closely followed by Jimmy \u00c5lund and Magnus Petersson. These three cars were the only ones in Q1 to get into the 6.7 bracket. Following these three with an ET of 6.9 was new kid on the block Robin Nor\u00e9n who was the only other driver to post a time below 7 seconds.\u00a0 The remaining places were taken up by Bengt Ljungdahl, Hannu Kalliom\u00e4ki, Michael Malmgren, Stefan Ernryd, Simon Gustafsson and Jonas Boberg\u00a0 in that order.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2242\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/06\/ljungdahl_3_tierp_i_lr.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2242\" class=\"wp-image-6636 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/ljungdahl_3_tierp_i_lr.jpg\" alt=\"ljungdahl_3_tierp_i_lr\" width=\"540\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/06\/ljungdahl_3_tierp_i_lr.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2016\/06\/ljungdahl_3_tierp_i_lr-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2242\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bengt Ljungdahl<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Nearer to normal service was resumed in Q2 as Jimmy \u00c5lund took the Camaro to a number one qualifying time of 6.65. Second fastest in this session was Bengt with a 6.66 time and taking the final point for third fastest was Thomas recording a time of 6.68. Bengt making his first appearance in a final and an appearance that I do not believe will be his last. The \u201cother\u201d Blue Camaro is consistently running the sort of times and speeds that make Jimmy \u00c5lund so hard to beat. But almost to prove that there is more than one way to lose a drag race, Bengt hit a red light in the final and handed the big trophy to Magnus. It was probably doubly painful for Bengt as well since Magnus hit enormous tyre shake and gave up by the eighth mile marker to record an eminently beatable 38 second pass. But once the red bulb is on, nothing else matters and Magnus was the winner on the day.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2234\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a
