The family run Danny\u2019s Racing Team are back with a new Monte Carlo body on the car, but the goal is the same, another European title.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Bellio won his first FIA European Championship title in 2019, which was also the first title for a driver from Belgium in the history of drag racing. After the coronavirus break in 2020&nbsp; and 2021, the 2022 season started in the same way for Sandro Bellio with a win at The Main Event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/bellio.513.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/bellio.513.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16426\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But at Tierp Arena it went wrong. The car caught fire and the damage to the engine, wiring, chassis and body seemed to bring an early end to his season. Defending the title seemed to be far away. But quitting isn\u2019t an option for the Danny\u2019s Racing Team operation. Two weeks later at Hockenheim, Bellio was back, finished in the runner-up position and went on to claim the win and the FIA European Top Methanol Championship title at the European Finals at Santa Pod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/bellio_2023_back.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/bellio_2023_back.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16427\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This season, the Bellios are back and want to win a third consecutive FIA European Top Methanol title, although that will not be easy as the competition will be tough. And Bellio will defend his title with a new body on the car and a new design. \u201cWe had to replace the body as the old one had too much damage after the fire at Tierp. The new body is once again a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, but the design is totally different. We tried to save as much weight as possible, as we were too heavy last year. The engine combination will be almost the same as we think that we can go much faster and quicker with it then we showed last year,\u201d said Bellio.
