After a 3-year break, Stig Neergaard is back in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship. After finishing third in 2015, the runner-up spot in 2016 behind his rival for many years and multiple champion Anita Mäkelä, was the Dane’s best point finish so far. A fourth, seventh and fifth position in the championship were the results in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 championships were cancelled, and with a business in the rental of mobile grandstands, Neergaard and his business were even more affected by the pandemic. Last year Neergaard limited his racing activities to a match race in Sweden and demo runs in his home country, Denmark.

“In the last couple of years we have been extremely busy with starting two new businesses. And now, with the pandemic behind us, we are also very busy with the grandstands, as that season also starts now. But it’s also time to make some fun again. We will race the same combination and parts as we did in 2019. It’s the former Brittany Force car we debuted in 2018. We fired up the engine two weeks ago and that went well. But we still have an awful lot to do. The plan is to do the full FIA European Championship, but that also depends on the way we perform at The Main Event. So far we are on the entry list in England and Tierp and we’ll see what comes next. We will do the tuning ourself and my son Kenny will help me again”, said Neergaard, who will once again be supported by his loyal partner Lucas Oil.

With The Real Stig in the championship, the title race will be even more interesting to watch.

Text: Remco Scheelings

Great news from Denmark!
