Ida Zetterstr\u00f6m raced to victory in the Top Fuel final of the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship at Tierp Arena in Sweden. It was the first win for Zetterstr\u00f6m in only her second race of her rookie season in Top Fuel. In a close Pro Modified final Michael Gullqvist claimed the victory over Marck Harteveld. In Top Methanol in an all Swedish final Daniel Jedborn won over Jonny Lagg. In Pro Stock Robin Nor\u00e9n surprised with a win in the semifinal over Jimmy \u00c5lund and then took the win in the final as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

It was a great day of racing at Tierp Arena with many major upsets in eliminations and several surprise winners at the Summit Racing Equipment Internationals, round two of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Top Fuel Antti Horto, the number one qualifier, advanced to the final after defeating Susanne Callin in the semifinal. The driver from Sweden had to shut off her engine at the start line when her car was leaking fluid in the burn out, handing the win to the leader in the FIA European Top Fuel Championship who crossed the finish line in a far from trouble free run in 5.23 seconds. The other semifinal was a real exciting one as number two qualifier Ida Zetterstr\u00f6m stormed to a great 3.83 seconds to defeat an also quick Tommi Haapanen (3.92 seconds).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the final Zetterstr\u00f6m was away first and while Horto suffered traction problems, the driver from \u00c5land, Finland, took the lead, and although she had traction problems halftrack as well, Zetterstr\u00f6m claimed the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the first Top Fuel victory for Zetterstr\u00f6m in her second official race in her first season in the quickest and fastest category of the FIA European Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As expected, the eliminations in Pro Modified were exciting and full of upsets. In the first round David Vegter had to shut off his engine after the burn out, thus the race for the Dutch number two in the championship was over. Jan Ericsson went out in the second round as the leader in the championship was defeated on a holeshot by \u00c5ke Persson. The next victim of eliminations was the number one qualifier, Mats Eriksson. The Swede advanced to the semifinal, but couldn\u2019t make the start in time after he suffered some damage in round two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a great day of racing Marck Harteveld and Michael Gullqvist had to face each other in the final. Harteveld, the number five qualifier, was quick and consistent as well, defeated Marcus Perman and Andres Arnover and had a bye run in the semifinal. Gullqvist, the multiple Pro Modified champion who had a very bad Friday qualifying, bounced back with a number three position on the Saturday, to defeat Michel Tooren in the second round and Persson in the semifinal. In a close final Gullqvist took the win in 5.980 seconds while Harteveld crossed the finish line in 5.982 seconds! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first round of eliminations in Pro Stock had no surprises as the top four qualifiers all advanced to the semifinals. But in the first semifinal number one qualifier and quickest and fastest driver of the weekend, Jimmy \u00c5lund was beaten at the tree by Robin Nor\u00e9n, and when the multiple champion also suffered some problems in the run, Nor\u00e9n took the win and advanced to the final. The other semifinal was decided at the start line when Stefan Ernryd suffered severe tyreshake, handing the win to the number two qualifier Michael Malmgren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final was decided at the start line as well as Malmgren suffered severe tyre shake while Nor\u00e9n stormed to a great 6.65 seconds to claim the win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Top Methanol the numbers one and four qualifiers, Daniel Jedborn and Jonny Lagg advanced to the final. Jedborn had a bye run in the semifinal, while Lagg defeated the number two qualifier Linn Fl\u00f8ysvik. In the final Lagg had some problems with the engine while Jedborn stormed to a winning 5.46 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next round of the FIA European Drag Racing Championship is within two weeks, the NitrOlympX at the Rico Anthes Quartermile of the HockenheimRing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
