As a result of the Covid-19 virus wreaking havoc and uncertainty across the whole of Europe in recent weeks, including the huge impact on all businesses and travel, especially the outside events and motorsports business, several countries are seriously affected, and major sporting events are already being cancelled.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following the increased restrictions that have been put in place by the UK Government to combat the Covid-19 epidemic, Motorsport UK last week, took the decision to extend its suspension of all motorsport permits until at least the 30th June 2020. As a result, Trakbak Racing Ltd, in agreement with the FIA and Santa Pod Racers Club have taken the decision to cancel The Main Event, which was due to be the opening round of the 2020 FIA European Drag Racing Championship season scheduled to take place from the 22nd \u2013 25th May 2020. While very disappointing these are necessary steps to control the spread of the virus and we all must do our part.<\/p>\n

We are currently waiting to see if the second round of the FIA Championship at Tierp (the Tierp Internationals) to be held on the 4th -7th June will still go ahead. The final decision on this will be taken by the Tierp Arena management no later than Friday the 10th April.<\/p>\n

So, if we assume that the Tierp Internationals (June 4th-7th) will go ahead, then the calendar will be as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Round 1\u00a0 – Tierp Internationals (June 4th – 7th), Tierp Arena (Sweden)<\/p>\n

Round 2 –\u00a0 Summit Racing Equipment Internationals (August 13th \u2013 16th), Tierp Arena (Sweden)<\/p>\n

Round 3 –\u00a0 NitrOlympX (August 28th – 30th), Hockenheim (Germany)<\/p>\n

Round 4 –\u00a0 European Finals (Sept 10th – 13th), Santa Pod Raceway (UK)<\/p>\n

If the first round at the Tierp Arena in June in cancelled, then the calendar will be as follows:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Round 1 –\u00a0 Summit Racing Equipment Internationals (August 13th \u2013 16th), Tierp Arena (Sweden)<\/p>\n

Round 2 –\u00a0 NitrOlympX (August 28th – 30th), Hockenheim (Germany)<\/p>\n

Round 3 –\u00a0 European Finals (Sept 10th – 13th), Santa Pod Raceway (UK)<\/p>\n

DRE will keep you updated on any changes that may arise out of the Covid-19 virus which may affect or bring about changes in the above calendar.<\/p>\n

Should the FIA Championship now become a 3-round Championship, then we are proposing that the FIA Championship registration fee is reduced from \u20ac 800 down to \u20ac 500 for entry into the FIA European Drag Racing Championship.<\/p>\n

We are all in unprecedented times across the whole of Europe with this pandemic; the\u00a0 Corona Virus (Covid-19) and we ask for your support and patience as we seek to deal with this situation as best as we can.<\/p>\n
