With her elapsed time of 3.98 seconds, the reigning FIA European Top Fuel champion also recorded the first 3-second Top Fuel run in the history of Finnish drag racing. In Top Methanol Jonny Lagg is the leader after day one, while David Vegter stormed to a stunning 5.866 seconds in his first run on the new track to take the lead in Pro Modified. In Pro Stock championship leader Jimmy <\/strong><strong>\u00c5<\/strong><strong>lund \u00a0claimed the provisional number one qualifying position after two runs. <\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Great sunny conditions at the first day of qualifying at the brand new drag racing facility of Kauhava. In all categories there were several drivers who recorded excellent elapsed times, while others struggled with the new track.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/makel1_kau_q1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16103\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/makel1_kau_q1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/makel1_kau_q1.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/makel1_kau_q1-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In Top Fuel local hero Anita M\u00e4kel\u00e4 from Finland gave the crowd something to cheer about as the reigning FIA European Top Fuel champion stormed to a great 3.98 seconds in her second run of the day. That 3.98 seconds was the first 3-second run at the new Kauhava track and the first 3-second run in Finland as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/neergaard_kau_q1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16101\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/neergaard_kau_q1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"362\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/neergaard_kau_q1.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/neergaard_kau_q1-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stig Neergaard recorded 4.054 seconds to jump into the number two position, with Antti Horto third in 4.059 seconds close behind.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/horto_kau_q1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16108\" src=\"http:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/horto_kau_q1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/horto_kau_q1.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.dragracingeurope.eu\/fiaedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/07\/horto_kau_q1-300x186.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Liam Jones is fourth after Friday qualifying, with daughter and father Jndia and Urs Erbacher fifth and sixth.
