Four regular competitors in the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship took the opportunity to race at the famous NitrOlympX at Hockenheim, the second round of the FIM European Drag Bike Championship. With temperatures exceeding 38 degrees, it was extremely hot at the Rico Anthes Quartermile. For the EDRS Pro Nordic MC riders the 30th<\/sup> NitrOlympX was a unique experience and as two of them went home with a trophy, it was also a great success!<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Pro Stock Motorcycle EDRS Pro Nordic MC frontrunners Robert Karlsson, Kenneth Holmberg and Thomas Olsen travelled to Germany to take part in the second round of the FIM European Drag Bike Championship.<\/p>\n

Robert Karlsson<\/p><\/div>\n

Like in the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship, Karlsson, assisted by his daughter and Gardermoen race winner Ellsa, was in the top of the qualifying sheets from the first moment and ended qualifying in third position with 7.186 seconds, only 0.034 seconds behind number one qualifier Gert-Jan Laseur.<\/p>\n

In the first round of eliminations Karlsson stepped up to 7.13 seconds to advance to the quarter finals, where he defeated Alex Hope. In the semi-finals Karlsson\u2019s NitrOlympX adventure was over when he had to face reigning FIM European champion Fredrik Fredlund, and he had to shut off his engine with a problem.<\/p>\n

Kenneth Holmberg<\/p><\/div>\n

Holmberg was the number five qualifier (7.38) in the fifteen bike field. In the first round a 7.29 seconds was enough to advance to the quarterfinals, but there the Swecomposite rider pulled a red light against Karl-Heinz Weikum.<\/p>\n

As the number fifteen qualifier Olsen had to face Fredlund in the first round. Although he lost the run, the young Norwegian rider was happy, \u00a0because with 7.604 seconds he reset his personal best!<\/p>\n

Leif Larsson<\/p><\/div>\n

In Super Street Bike Leif Larsson reached to the number twelve qualifying position in the nineteen bike field. With many extremely fast British entries, competition was tough. After defeating Mogens Lund in the first round, Larsson stepped up to 7.89 in the quarter final to beat Stefan Schmidt from Germany. In the semi-finals Larsson had to face number one qualifier Garry Bowe. Although the race was closer than expected (7.74 for Bowe and 7.94 and a better reaction time for Larsson) the number one qualifier advanced to the final. But like Karlsson in Pro Stock Motorcycle, as a semi-finalist Larsson left Hockenheim with a trophy too.<\/p>\n
