Sunny days at Tierp Arenas Test and Tune

Tierp Arena

Tierp Arena was open for a Test and Tune weekend on 7th and 8th of May  enabling teams to get the vehicles in shape just before the race season starts. Eather and track conditions could not have been better. The track preparation crew headed by Kalle Brinell had done an excellent and to make things even better, the sun was shining all weekend.

We also got to meet Adam Flamholc’s new team and learned what his new mission will be this season.

Dmitry and Adam

-I´m contracted to the Russian Dragtimes team, Adam let us know. They have bought my Swedish stastioned Viper, and they are here to test it this weekend. But I´m also continuing helping the Pro Mod-teams of Mats and LG Eriksson and David Vegter as much as possible.

Krister Adeen came to test his brand new MERS built competition turbo Volvo.  Nice and clean in every corner.

-It’s been a busy last three months, says Krister who picked up the chassis at MERS in February. So now it is a really good opportunity to do some tests here at Tierp, we have a lot of work left on the car, so our next event will be the FIA race here at Tierp. After that we´ll see what happens.

Andreas Artursson also showed up with some new stuff under the hood.

-I got a new engine and new injection system in the car for this season, says Andreas. The engine is a little bit smaller than the one last year, but it should give more power to the turbo. But the test round didn’t go so well for Andreas. Some engine damage occurred after just one second. So now the team must go back home and repair the car.

PS Stefan Ernryd

Stefan Ernryd was on site to test his new car and by the last round on Sunday he finally found the right settings and routines for getting the car over the finish line in a respectable time.

PS Jimmy Ålund

Another gentleman who was testing this weekend was Jimmy Ålund, who seemed to have everything under control straight off the trailer. Jimmy hit a personal best time already at this test at 6,4842 sec.  The Pro Stock class will increase this year with new competitors, including Jonas Boberg, Robin Noren and Stefan Ernryd. Jonas was on site with Tommy Leindahl who is the former owner of his car. Bengt Ljungdahl also did some testing with good results and with good help from Marcus Svensson.

Maris Ozolins

Another interesting vehicle at the track this weekend was an electric dragster. The team came from Latvia and were improving their times every round. Best ET was 7.63, no sound except from some tire squeak made the rounds a bit strange, as you normally hold your ears when it comes to drag racing.

All in all the weekend was good for the people that showed up. Some personal bests were set and test rounds could be done in a calm and nice environment, before the serious racing starts in just three weeks for the 2016 FIA Championship.

Laukkanen team

Tero Laukkanens team members Markko Karppinen and Kettil Rautio made Tierp Arena a visit and could tell that this season they helping Willy Haga out with his new Pro Modified turbo that he is going to race at Alastaro and Tierp.

Another couple that visited the arena was Jonnie Lindberg and Peter “Strumpan” Ström. Jonnie was home for a short visit and took the opportunity to meet some of his european friends.

One very sad incident happened at Saturday afternoon. Samuel Andersson who races in Top Doorslammer, Pro Modified and Pro Xtreme had a bad explosion in his beautiful Mustang. The car caught fire and Samuel is now on hospital being treated for some serious burns. But by the newspaper www.helahalsingland.se  has printed an article saying he will make a full recovery. So we all hope and we send all our best to him and his family and team.
