Vesa Lipponen, Kalle Lyrén, Jan Sturla Hegre and Alex Hope provisional leaders at Alastaro

Vesa Lipponen raced to the surprising number one qualifying position in Super Twin Motorcycle at the first day of qualifying for the FHRA Nitro Nationals, round two of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Alastaro, Finland. In Pro Stock Motorcycle Kalle Lyrén impressed with a stunning 7.01 seconds and will enter day two as the clear leader is his category. In Top Fuel Motorcycle Jan Sturla Hegre and in Super Street Bike Alex Hope are the leaders at Alastaro with still two qualifying runs on Saturday to go.

Samu Kemppainen

In Super Twin Motorcycle Vesa Lipponen surprised with two impressive runs and with 6.74 seconds the Finn is the leader after day one. Favourite and winner of race one at Tierp, Samu Kemppainen, also from Finland, is second with 6.79 seconds and Harri Piensalmi surprised too, and makes the top three all Finnish.

Kalle Lyrén

In Pro Stock Motorcycle Kalle Lyrén was in a class of his own with 7.04 and 7.01 second elapsed times and is the provisional leader. Elvira Karlsson replaces her sister Ellsa this weekend and showed her talent with a second qualifying position (7.26 seconds). Timo Savolainen from Finland is third with 7.31 seconds.

Jan Sturla Hegre

In his first race of the season Jan Sturla Hegre surprised with a number one qualifying position at Alastaro (6.37 seconds). Favourite Rikard Gustafsson had some problems and is second (6.80 seconds).

Alex Hope

In Super Street Bike Alex Hope is the leader with 7.42 seconds. Reigning champion Björn Friström is close behind with 7.45 seconds and winner of the first round at Tierp, Henri Kolehmainen is third (7.47 second). First rider in the 7.5-seconds is Anders Blanck in fourth position.

Super Comp Bike and Super Gas Bike had qualifying runs on Thursday and Friday. In Super Comp Bike Emil Őstlund leads a 17-bike field, with Bianca Nilsson in second. In Super Gas Bike Janne Koskinen is the leader after day one.
