Per Bengtsson

Per Bengtsson is the new leader in Super Twin Motorcycle after the second day of qualifying for the Drag Challenge at Gardermoen Raceway. In Top Fuel Motorcycle, Pro Stock Motorcycle and Super Street Bike, the Friday leaders were still in the lead after another three runs, and so Jan Sturla Hegre, Elvira Karlsson and Björn Friström will lead their respective categories into eliminations for the third round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship.

It was a busy day for the teams and riders competing in the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship at Gardermoen Raceway. After the two Friday qualifying sessions, three qualifying sessions were scheduled and run today.

Samu Kemppainen

A big surprise in Super Twin Motorcycle, as for the first time this year Samu Kemppainen is not the number one qualifier. After some problems in his last run yesterday, today Per Bengtsson improved to a stunning 6.41 seconds and will lead the Super Twin field into tomorrow eliminations. Kemppainen improved to 6.57 and is second. After yesterday’s 7.08 seconds, with 6.579 second a major improvement for Hans Olav Olstad, but still the reigning EDRS champion stayed in the number three qualifying position.

Elvira Karlsson

In Pro Stock Motorcycle Ellsa Karlsson surprised with a stunning 7.09 seconds (more than 0.6 seconds faster then her personal best) to take over the number one qualifying position. But in the next run it was her sister and leader after day one, Elvira, who took the lead again with 7.06 seconds. To make it a real Karlsson story, father Robert Karlsson is number three qualifier. Kenneth Vik crashed his bike at the finish line. The Norwegian rider was uninjured.

Sverre Dahl

In Top Fuel Motorcycle Jan Sturla Hegre couldn’t improve on his Friday time, but the 6.54 seconds was still enough to stay in the lead. Sverre Dahl is the new number two, but like yesterday, the Norwegian rider had traction problems. Rikard Gustafsson is number three. The Swedish rider will not take part in eliminations, as the oil pressure problems he had yesterday couldn’t be solved in time.

Eliminations for the Drag Challenge will start Sunday morning.
