Robert Karlsson

With Samu Kemppainen from Finland winner in Super Twin Motorcycle, Robert Karlsson from Sweden winner in Pro Stock Motorcycle and Dag Wagenius and Sverre Dahl from Norway as winners in Super Street Bike and Top Fuel Motorcycle, four winners from three different countries at the FHRA Nitro Nationals at Alastaro. The second round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship saw some great racing in almost all categories.

Temperatures were a bit lower on elimination day, compared to the heat during qualifying. This made it for riders and tuners a bit easier to find a good set-up for the ever improving Alastaro track.

Samu Kemppainen

Samu Kemppainen gave the Finnish home crowd something to cheer about. The reigning FIM European champion will be hard to beat this season and proved that again in eliminations at Alastaro. After defeating Greger Johansson and reigning EDRS Super Twin champion Hans Olav Olstad, Kemppainen produced his third 6.7 seconds run in the final to take the win against number two qualifier Per Bengtsson.

Elvira and Robert Karlsson

Pro Stock Motorcycle seemed like a Karlsson family show, but still Robert Karlsson has to explain something when he is back home. After a win in the quarter final against Thomas Olsen, Robert Karlsson defeated daughter Ellsa in the semi-finals. As his other daughter Elvira set low ET of the meeting (7.097 seconds) in the other semi-final to defeat Kenneth Holmberg, it was an all Karlsson final at Alastaro. In a great side-by-side race Elvira suffered some mechanical problems and so Robert also defeated his other daughter to take the win in only his second race after his come back.

With the number one, two and three qualifiers in the semi-finals, Super Street Bike had the fastest riders of the meeting in the last two rounds. After defeating Jani Kumpulainen in the quarter final, number one qualifier Björn Friström had a bye run in the semi-final. In the other semi-final number three qualifier Dag Wagenius hold off number two qualifier Nils-Ola Andersson to advance to the final. Despite a wheelie Wagenius never lifted and recorded 7.68 seconds to defeat reigning champion Friström.
