The weather was not with the racers at the Tierp Internationals today. Eliminations for the first round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship was first interrupted by light rain, but when heavy showers came in, the race director had no other choice than to cancel the event at 4 p.m. For the EDRS Pro Nordic MC only Super Street Bike had one elimination round, all other classes didn’t run at all today at Tierp Arena.

After the rain on Saturday, the bad weather was back in Tierp on elimination day. The program at Tierp Arena started with the first round of eliminations in Super Street Bike, and racers and fans were looking forward to a great and exciting day of racing for the first round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship.

No major upsets in the first round in Super Street Bike. Number one qualifier Richard Stubbins defeated Niclas Johansson and number two qualifier Alex Hope was to fast for Pelle Lakmaker. Also number three and four qualifiers Björn Friström and Anders Blanck survived the first round, where Friström ran a great 7.40 seconds. Mogens Lund surprised number five qualifier Nils-Ola Andersson and after a wheelie that slowed him down, Leif Larsson saw Dag Wagenius take the win light. Svein Ove Braendhagen needed a better reaction time against Kimmo Pulakka to advance to the quarter finals.

Later on elimination day, when Top Fuel Motorcycle low qualifier Sverre Dahl fired up his engine, it started to rain, followed by heavy showers. As it was already 4 p.m. and the forecast was more rain coming in, the race director had no other choice then to cancel the rest of eliminations. And so Sverre Dahl (Top Fuel Motorcycle), Samu Kemppainen (Super Twin Motorcycle) and Robert Karlsson (Pro Stock Motorcycle) couldn’t take advantage of their number one qualifying positions.

The second round of the EDRS Pro Nordic Motorcycle Championship will be the Nitro Nationals at Alastaro, Finland, July 2-5.
