The 2018 Members Memorial Race at Malmö Raceway coming up

Malmö Raceway is one of very few permanent drag strips in Sweden and often hosts the fastest and quickest doorslammers in Europe. This weekend they offer several classes ranging from Top Doorslammer to Jr Dragster and Jr Bikes. This is the first of two events of the Summit Racing EDRS Series that will be run at this very high quality track.

“The name of this event is for honouring track staff members that have passed away”, explains Jonny Åberg. “It’s about people that have meant a lot to the club, to our organisation and events for many years. We are going to hold a memorial ceremony for them during the weekend”.

So far 80 teams have registered for the event, this is far more than last year which is very good. There are also quite a few teams coming in from central Europe, and from much further off than that. In Top Doorslammer we have a racer making the trip all the way from Kuwait, a big welcome to Hussain Al Shammari. Hussain will be racing in the Top Doorslammer class with his beautiful 1970 Camaro. Upon that we welcome racers from Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and Norway. SRIF wishes all a warm welcome to Malmö Raceway next weekend, May 19-20.
